i have the base 11" with 128ssd cold boot is around 13-15 secs

theres no such thing as 7 secs

That's where my 11.6 is. I'm very happy with that. My rev C MBA with SSD is basically double that......even double that is still really fast considering most others out there.

My boot ups, with nothing authorized to run at start-up, has been around 25 seconds since updating to 10.6.5. :(

Has this happened to anyone else?

When you say "nothing authorized to run at start-up", do you mean via the Login Items panel in System Prefs, or are you including the LaunchDaemons/Agents in the OS? It's amazing what gets added to launchd by 3rd party apps/drivers, etc.

The consensus of the posts here is that most of seem to be seeing MBA boot times of around 15 seconds. Although that is somewhat more that 7-10 seconds, it's still very good, it seems to me. I counted my blessings on this score this morning when I rebooted my Santa Rosa MBP and the process took 2 minutes.

I meant Login Items in Sysprefs. How do you check otherwise? I haven't yet discovered the Mac equivalent to "msconfig" :p

WTF! What a load of crap Adobe has installed on my machine. The files are everywhere.

The ones I know of:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/LaunchAgents
~/Library/LaunchAgents folder

I checked those three folders, and I have a lot of files. I have no idea what they are, though, so I don't want to delete anything. Nothing familiar stands out.

Reset the Pram maybe? 2 minutes is a long time

Well they should be empty so its stuff that you have installed. Google them if you ever want to delete them and boot faster.

If I'm not mistaken, Apple starts timing after the "bing", which indicates that the computer has hasn't encountered any hardware errors entering POST.

My MBP takes 10 - 12 seconds to boot. I would expect similar results for the Air. Maybe slightly longer since they use a slower SSD. Nothing to complain about. My pinwheel generally spins 2 1/2 times.
