I installed xp pro sp2 with boot camp on leopard and activated windows via internet. I then downloaded and ran VMware Fusion in Mac OS X. I ran my boot camp partition, installed VMware Tools and restarted virtual machine. I then activated windows in the virtual machine and have had no issues since booting between the two.

Unfortunately that didn't happen to me at all. I did like you did but it then asked me to activate yet again in boot camp which I tried and when I booted the virtual machine it needed another reactivation, at which point I gave up and restored my oldest winxp.ntfs backup using Netrestore.
