There aint no rest for the wicked on this one. This is a very cool deal. If the HW reqs are to be trusted, this would be an awesome at once Mac purchase.

Awesome news! Skipped this on PS3 but I think I'll bite this time.

Couldnt find this - Anybody know if this will be on Steam or will we have to hunt down a physical copy?

No one should really be that excited about this... because you all SHOULD have played it already. ;)

In the last year or so, this game is one of my most played, and still is with the recent DLC. But if for some reason you haven't played this yet, it gets my full approval. I'm not sure about the conversion for Mac, but the main game itself is excellent.

And just as a semi-cross-forum plug, we have a pretty decent amount of discussion in the Borderlands thread in the console section. So if anyone is new to the game, or has questions, we might have covered it already, so give it a read....

Another top title coming to the mac! Great news! Who knows, in a year or two it may become almost the norm for top titles to be available in OS X too. Especially if they sell well. Buy Buy Buy people!!! :D

No Feral games are being sold through Steam at this time.

Steam insists on selling dual version (PC & Mac) skus. This is a problem for us in that we lose control over the pricing, which is not something any company can afford to do. Secondly, we think it's unfair to all our other partners in distribution and retail, because Steam would have a product offering and pricing that no one else has and we cannot control.

However the game will be available at a large number of other digital download stores and physical stores so buying a copy even online should be easy for anyone who wants a digital only copy.

The game is PC <-> Mac network compatible and also PC save game compatible so you can play with other PC players on GameRanger as long as they patch their copy to the latest PC version.

Have you considered doing what Supreme Commander 2 does? You have to buy the game separately, but you get a code which allows you to add the game to Steam.

No company can afford to take a stance that is inarguably much less consumer friendly than the one that is also inarguably dominating Mac gaming right now - Steam.

So while it is Feral's prerogative to force people to pay full-price-twice to support Mac gaming as well as get to play games before they have been sold for <$10 on other platforms ... I would imagine that unlike games sold on Steam, sales of Feral games have not seen much of a bump over the last several months.

Oh well, we all have choices to make ...

I'm with you there. I had this on the 360, and I've played the living daylights out of it. I pretty much spent time dominating every part of it, except for the very latest expansion (haven't played that yet).

Though if I were to get a computer version of it, I might think about getting this. Every once in a while, if there's a game I loved so much on the console, I'll eventually get the computer version later for possible mods.

I've played the original Borderlands, not GOTY, and it was awesome!
The story isn't the greatest, but gameplay is great!

cider? if so then just bootcamp it. i mean most, if not all, of the gamers on mac will have an intel mac and already own a copy of windows somewheres. may as well stick to native instead of cider.

Feral's games are native ports.

This.

I would happily pay full price for it on Steam, but no Steam no sale for me.

I did play the 360 version and would happily have it now on my Mac (got rid of the 360 a while back) but I cannot abide by the reams of ****** online stores and DRM when Steam just works.

That along with this stance encouraging people like Aspyr to keep their games off Steam and charge rip of merchant prices (£40 for COD4...?) is what's holding Mac gaming back. Why didn't Gearbox do this in house and put it on Steam themselves?

Steam has single-handedly rejuvenated PC gaming Windows side, if it's going to have any effect on the OSX side we need developers to stop farming their conversions out to guys who need to control the price point just to survive.

Blizzard were releasing Native versions on the same discs back in the 90's.

:(

And there was me getting exited.

Why? Apart from Valve's own games, and some small indie games, Mac titles are very poor at taking advantage of Steam, and mainly only uses it for DRM. Supreme Commander 2 and Civilization 5, for example, don't handle their updates via Steam. Steam is good for indie games on the Mac, but all big budget titles seem to be screwing Mac gamers over (with either poor Steam support or using Transgaming's Cider which yield horrible performance compared to using just boot camp instead).

Anyway...

I've never played Borderlands, so I'd like to know if there will be a demo?
