I've been reading a lot about getting a much larger ssd than needed to extend the life of the internal ssd. I'll use the internal ssd for programs and a few other things. I'll keep my media(i.e. pictures, videos...) on an external ssd.
I've seen similar things. I have a strong suspicion that for 99.9% of folks this is irrelevant. The YTers need to post content and things like this, while maybe technically correct on the margin, are not all that helpful.

It all depends on how long people plan on owning the computer. For the most part I agree with you but I also think that a base system with minimum RAM and SSD size might be a long term problem for many. If the SSD could easily be replaced after reaching its end of life, it wouldn't be as much of an issue.
I wouldn't buy a used computer with SSD without checking the SSD remaining lifespan.

Supposedly another benefit of the studio is the different SSD’s the ones that they use in the pro. They’re not really replaceable of the T2 chip but they’re removable
