Should Apple continue making a smaller sized phone like the SE?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought my first iPhone SE from the AT&T store here in Rio Rancho. I'm honestly surprised how much I like it considering I switched from a 5.5" phone.

I really like everything about my new iPhone SE! Not only the small size but of course the iOS interface. I like how all the icons are uniform with rounded corners. I also like the widget and search feature when you swipe to the right. I especially like the sleek, slightly transparent look of the notifications when you swipe down from the top. It's definitely a new and better experience (in my opinion) than all the android phones I've used for the past 10 years.

My game "
Bottle Fizz Fruit Girl" was just accepted in the app store and I played it on my girlfriends iPad air last night, and the game kinda struggled. But the game works just fine on my little SE. This is probably because the SE has 2gb of ram!

I would have purchased an iPhone sooner, but I was never able to afford one (the high price of phones deserves its own thread). But AT&T has it for only $150 NEW.

I hope Apple continues to make a phone like the iPhone SE in addition to their larger phones. They must realize that some people just like the smaller phone.

It’s been rumored an iPhone SE 2 might launch in the spring, which if it’s in March, I’m curious to see what the SE 2 will hold if it does debut. For The price point, the iPhone SE is a solid device.

I thought that Apple invested in a company in India to make SE phones. It would be surprising if that was just a one off for the current SE model only.

Good point. Maybe there's some truth to the SE 2 MacRumors after all :)

iPhone SE 2? Wow that would be really cool. Yes I only paid $150 for mine :)

I just switched from my 8 to a SE as it is easier for me at work to use one handed and it is still very speedy on iOS 11.3 beta.

Also just bought an SE and think it’s fabulous in a smaller package. Took a little getting used to the smaller screen, but the build quality and having IOS can’t be beat.

I thought about waiting for the rumored upcoming SE2, but doubt it would be available anytime soon.

Congrats on your new phone, the SE is a great phone, my favorite design actually. The only thing I would have liked to see would have been polished bezels like the 5S. I’m hoping they do release a second generation SE, same form factor, just with new internals. Keep it simple.

An SE is a great device. I use it for work related business.
I'm currently using it for everything Lol. Work, home at the grocery store. I really like the the iOS. Oh and the 2gb of ram is very good to have.

Yes the 2gb of ram handles iOS 11.3 very well. I was surprised to learn that the iphone 6 and 6 plus only had 1gb of ram.

What did you do with your iphone 8? What kind of work do you do?

I really doubt it will be same form factors. I wouldn’t suprise Apple will can the iPhone SE and simply make a smaller iPhone X.

Personally I won’t use any phone that is below 5 inch. I have iPhone SE, every time I pick up this one, I feel everything is very cramped together. Text are too small if the website aren’t optimized for the small screen. Often times, I need scroll up and down more for content, I need zoom in more.

I am using Haiwei Mate 10, this phone is amazing for the displays. I can split two apps still feel adequate space for both.

I really doubt Apple make sequel of iPhone SE. The tech is trending bigger screen, smaller bezel phone. Going back for small screen is not going to happen.

I thought I read the SE2 was supposed to be much larger. Hope that was incorrect as I've always thought the SE was a great size for the smaller size iPhone fans.

Could or would be... matters not. If you need an SE, buy the SE.
LOL. I don't want one the OP was liking the smaller size and wondering about the next incarnation. Found this rumor info
https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/iphone/iphone-se-2-release-date-3500611/#toc-3500611-7
Which talks about a much larger device. If true kinda defeats the whole goodness of the SE's smaller form factor that a lot of folks like. Price and size was the 2 big selling points. Might be a bit more pricey with a much bigger screen, I always liked the pocket ability of the smaller form. The 6" neighborhood is to damn big

Hmm. Great.

Now try editing out the game from the OP, & it's secondary mention in another post, as they're completely irrelevant.

I think if the iPhone SE 2 does debut in 2018, I don’t think it will be much larger than what it is now. I question if Apple retains the chassis of the current iPhone SE, which if they do make a new SE2 with a new chassis, then the 3.5 Jack won’t likely remain. I think the whole point of the iPhone SE was to make it affordable and the four-inch form factor was what most want versus having the latest features.

That's the thing about them that people don't realise. They are a bad buy. The SE has such great specs.

The feel of the SE is natural in a way that's comforting. I get things done in apps and web browsing so comfortably. The size is so straight to the point and puts it in its place. I feel like it works for me rather than having a giant, extravagantly sized thing where I work for it.

Exactly. That is the main reason why their won’t be a new SE being released this year. The SE uses the same A9 as the iPhone 6S. That chip is very powerful on its own. It can easily run the SE for another 3 years.

Perhaps next year we’ll see a new SE using the A10 or A11.

I wouldn't buy an SE right now unless you can get a very good deal on one - those things are getting old and there may be an SE2 to replace it sans button coming soon.
