Should Apple continue making a smaller sized phone like the SE?

I wouldn't buy an SE right now unless you can get a very good deal on one - those things are getting old and there may be an SE2 to replace it sans button coming soon.

The SE is performing solid on iOS 11. The A9 really isn’t that dated of a Processor. As for the SE 2, highly questionable if that will happen or not. I’m hoping it does launch somewhere in March with a spring Keynote. If it does, I think it will retain the home button.

I bought an SE last week at att for 150. It came with ios 11 and is very quick at pulling up and running apps and web surfing. I really dont have a need for the lastest greatest phone anymore. The thrill is gone. Its nice to have a pocketable phone again.

You can find the SE New extremely cheap. It’s not a huge selling iPhone for obvious reasons and carriers have them discounted with promotions. I’m waiting to see if Apple does release an iPhone SE 2, but I’m not confident it will.

So you aren't using it?

Not right now. I really like being able to use the SE one handed and it is still really fast on iOS 11.3 beta. Plus it is easy to slip in and out of a pocket. Not to mention if it were to get damaged I would not freak out.

The SE is a good phone for people that don't want to spend their days staring at their phones like zombies. Mine still 90% an iPod.

I can understand people wanting a big phone, but I prefer to do stuff on a MacBook or iMac rather than on a tiny 5.5" screen.

My wife loves hers. She had an iPhone 5 and really missed it when she upgraded to a 6. When she was due to upgrade luckily the SE was launched and she is hoping a new version comes out in the same size. Not everybody likes big smartphones at the end of the day.

Perhaps it'll be with the A10 in it.

When iPhone 6s launched in 2015, it had the A9 Processor, when the iPhone SE launched in March 2016, it shares the same processor the iPhone 6s has. In theory, IF an iPhone SE 2 launches in 2018, it could share the same processor as the iPhone 8/X.

I understand the desire and sometimes need for a smaller phone. I actually never really liked the 5/5S size. Adding the equivalent of another row of apps to the screen didn't do much for me. I'd be intrigued by a phone that was the size of the 4/4S as an alternative to the 6/7/8 and 6/7/8 Plus size phones.

I don't believe Apple will retain the home button for any future releases. The 8 and 8+ being the EOL devices for that feature.

I use my device for media consumption amongst just about everything else. I think nowadays the size of the X is the smallest I’d go and even then I’m anticipating a X Plus. There’s more to a larger screen than an extra row of icons (home screen is merely a conduit for launching apps). A larger screen typically means more content consumption.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought my first iPhone SE from the AT&T store here in Rio Rancho. I'm honestly surprised how much I like it considering I switched from a 5.5" phone.

I really like everything about my new iPhone SE! Not only the nice small size but of course the iOS interface. It's definitely a new and better experience (in my opinion) than all the android phones I've used for the past 10 years.

I would have purchased an iPhone sooner but I was never able to afford one (The high price of phone's deserves it's own thread). But AT&T has it for only $150 NEW.

I hope apple continues to make a phone like the iPhone SE in addition to their larger phones. They must realize that some people just like the smaller phone.

I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to get one also Lol

Danny :)

My favorite iphone I ever owned was my 5s to be honest. I have debated on getting the SE but after having the iphone + for 3-4 years, I dont think that I could go back to such a small phone.

If they made the next Iphone SE like the second video you attached I would most likely purchase it! lol
I am waiting on the Iphone X + if they decide to make it

A big "if", but since this is a entry level device, I don't see a A11 just yet.

It was merely a comparison from a time frame when the 6s and SE launched sharing the same Processor being launched within six months of each other.

That's the thing about them that people don't realise. They are a bad buy. The SE has such great specs.

The feel of the SE is natural in a way that's comforting. I get things done in apps and web browsing so comfortably. The size is so straight to the point and puts it in its place. I feel like it works for me rather than having a giant, extravagantly sized thing where I work for it.

Yes it definitely feels good in the hand. I don't think I would like a phone smaller than 4" I think if you are a person who likes a small phone, the iPhone SE is the right size.

I liked my SE fine when I had it - trouble is when I wanted/needed a bigger screen.

I do hope Apple updates it with a slightly bigger screen and reduced bezels.

There would be leaks about this from credible sources. The only leaks so far have been for 3 large models. It's too quiet on the SE front. MacRumors is stretching for news. The next model will either stay the same with updated internals or there won't be one. A very good justification to get a good deal on an SE. But price is not the reason why people like the SE.

Not really. There have been several recent articles about the SE being updated in the spring with wireless charging, a glass backing, perhaps slightly larger display, etc. furthermore, I’m not sure how they have been ‘stretching for news’, when when it’s a rumored website and they report from multiple sources.

But price is not the reason why people like the SE.

The price point is not the main reason, but it’s a selling point to strengthen the sales of the SE. When you factor in Apples prices for hardware as a whole, they’re very expensive. When they offered the iPhone SE starting at $400, that’s cheap enough where many consumers were paying in full for the iPhone versus financing it. So the iPhone SE aside from the four-inch form factor who were interested, the price point is equally just as important in the role of the SE.

Also just bought an SE and think it’s fabulous in a smaller package. Took a little getting used to the smaller screen, but the build quality and having IOS can’t be beat.

I thought about waiting for the rumored upcoming SE2, but doubt it would be available anytime soon.

Well you never know. I'm guessing there might be some truth to the SE 2 comin out this year. Is the SE you purchased your first iPhone?

Wasn't the iPhone 4/4s the same size as the SE?
