The funny thing is the old cat in the box with poison that releases on opening (anyone that has read a bit on how Quantum computing will know what I'm talking about).

He bought it clearly as a collectors item.

What if its empty.

What if the iPod doesn't even work.

Haha. He can't open it.

Schroedinger's Cat - the theory that all states exist until something interacts with it. It could be a diamond in the shape of Steve Jobs saying "Boom" but until he opens it we will never know. Mind you, it's probably an old iPod...

Nice thread reviving :p Yeah, i should have done that. Mind you, i do have an original Archos Jukebox 6000 still in shrinkwrap, no where near as good as the iPod 1st gen though

If the buyer doesn't open it and store the box again for another 10 years, when the iPods of 2016 will make coffes, have unlimited storage, have cinema screens that can be displayed on any walls, take pictures, record videos, batteries that last 30 hours and so on... that thing will be a sacred relic and will be sold for an even higher price :D
But there will be only dust inside that box at that time, I guess, LOL...

That's the ticket... I just didn't know how to spell Schro... yeah :)

i could never own anything just for nostalgia, sure i own two g4 cubes, but i use them, and i intend on makeing my first few cars classics, but i'll use them like any new car but just take care of them.

I have 2 old Ses that i am keeping for nostalgiac purposes but other than that, i am selling all of the old mac gear :( A whole garage of it!!!

The actual starting bid on the auction was 900$...950$ was the first bidders maximum. Still unbelievable!

Did you guys look at the bid history on this thing? The bidding started at $950!!!

It has to be the first one...it has the M8513 part number. The second set of 1G iPods was the M8541 part number.

It looks like it has been resealed, mind you, it could just be 4 year old plastic wrap.

It's a 1st Gen, but released along with the 10GB model. The original 1st Gen didn't show the capacity and they used the Garamond font on the box and engraved on the back of the iPod.
