I am torn on if I like that or not. On one hand, this keyboard could be like a traveling dock. Have it on a desk in desktop mode, then pull it off to be in tablet mode. I like that idea. On the other hand the iPad is really designed to be in a case with the camera bump and smart connectors. Also, it would have to be removed from the case anytime you wanted to use the Pencil, which seems like a real pain. Another example of having to take an extra step to make the iPad work which is what has always prevented me from replacing a laptop with it.

Still very torn. A few days ago I was definitely in. Now I am kinda leaning toward sticking with the smart folio keyboard.

I hear you. For me personally, I love using the iPad with the keyboard attachment, but also love using the iPad just as an iPad (tablet). Hate the feel Of having an iPad in a case. Like to be as minimal as possible with it.

The original iPad Pro keyboard cover I loved in that you could pull the iPad off and leave the keyboard cover sitting and easily drop the iPad back onto it. Ever since the 2018 iPad Pro (which I absolutely I love), I’ve just hated the keyboard folio. Dislike how it has to cover the whole back, and how if I want to remove the iPad for casual tablet use that I end up with a large floppy folio.

For those reasons I’m extremely excited about this new Smart Keyboard. Very interesting design all around, especially how the iPad floats in a way and can be removed with one hand. That + backlit keyboard + trackpad just really will transform the whole thing for me.

Gotta say though, I still miss the old days of a simple iPad + 4 pane Smart Cover. Something just so simple yet elegant about it (not to mention colourful!)

From another post, definitely appears to go back further.

I apologize if you mentioned this already, but can you see if you’re able to set up a 1 finger right click by clicking on the right side of the trackpad? Or is 2 finger right click required. I have the Logitech one and was not able to use a single finger right click. The other option which I know of is hold Ctrl and left click which results in the secondary right click action. Thanks for your help.

The angle definitely looks a lot bigger on the diagram above. I'm wondering if it could go further by applying more force. Though I don't want anyone breaking their new $350 accessory attempting it. 😅

I'm going to assume the 12.9" keyboard tilts back further than the 11". The diagram above is for the 12.9".

Yeah I just saw that 12.9” unboxing and first hands-on and it definitely seems that it tilts back more than the 11”. It actually makes sense because of the different weight distribution, but also functionally because of having a bigger screen you need that extra angle.

The grainer photo of the box is a screenshot I took from the 11-inch Thai stream. So, take from that what you will.

By my eye, the widest setting on the Magic Keyboard box from the 12.9 screenshot is identical to the widest angle on the Smart Keyboard. I held up my 12.9 with Smart Keyboard and eyeballed it.

Same goes with the current Smart Keyboard Folio, the 12.9” sits around at 47degree while the 11” at around 52degree at it most laid back position.

Weirdly the box of the 11” SKF uses the 47” angle of the 12”...
At first i thought i had a defect SFK but i went and check on apple store and yeah all the SFK 11” is steeper.

For the magic keyboard the iPad is lifted higher so i think it doesn’t need to be that laid back. The closer it is to your eye level the less steeper the monitor need to be. Unless of course when use on lap, the steeper the better, which with SFK i rest the edge of keyboard to my tummy lol.

Does anyone know if you can change screen brightness in control centre or in home screen widget?

Matches your all black xiaomi robot 😄

Do you find the viewing angle laid back enough for your usage?
Haha it's actually my brother's, I'm staying at his condo while I'm stuck in Bangkok at the moment :)

Yes, it is fine, really similar to the smart folio, though wouldn't mind if it could go back a bit further.

It requires two fingers for the right-click (really just a long hold) One finger right click doesn’t work.

Thank you for all your videos and help!
I posted this on another iPad Pro keyboard thread but wanted to See perhaps I should ask here also.

Some of us on the Logitech keyboard, with Functionality of trackpad similar to the magic keyboard are discussing a scroll issue. Anyone w the magic keyboard, are you experiencing this? Thanks in advance and would be helpful to see.

Anyone else having weird issues with scrolling? Like try to scroll with two fingers and then stop + let go, but the screen keeps scrolling. I saw some other people talking about this, not sure if it’s a bug or what :(
The strange thing is it’s not consistent but it’s definitely bothersome since it’s sporadic. Stopping scrolling and removing your hand results in a slight continuation of scroll, which sounds like what you’re describing. I don’t think any particular setting can change this and could be a bug requiring future software release. I wonder if the magic keyboard folks are also having the same issue.
