I've got a 40GB 3G. The stupid Lock Switch failed so now I can't lock it. Geez those buttons are sensitive! It now lives in my car, tethered to my Alpine. Works fine for that particular task.

The first two generations never attracted me that much buch I had to get the 3G when it came out. 4G was a step backwards in my opinion

Perfect statement...eventhough the 4G was my first iPod and started my love for apple products I still agree.

Yeah Firewire was another thing. I can't remember when they got rid of it (was it the 4G?) but I thought that was a *gigantic* step backwards. I still do. That was one of the reasons I was sceptical about the Intel change (which turned out well in the end), as it smacked of giving up on quality, waving a little white flag and submitting to PC rubbish.

Idk. I dont really like the third generation. The buttons at the top were annoying... I have a 4th gen and like it much better.

I have a 5.5G now so my old 10GB 3G is now used by my sister. Since it hasn't got any more than 5 minutes or so of battery anymore, she just keeps it plugged up to her stereo and enjoys it very much.

I actually liked the feel of the 3G better, though it's worth it for video and a huge disk.

I've had a 2G, a 3G, and a 5G.

I actually liked the 3G buttons, but only with a proper case (read: iSkin) to provide a bevel around it. When bare the buttons are far too sensitive and get accidently pressed constantly.

USB sucks compared to FireWire, but mostly only for older machines (I don't mean USB 1.1, I mean the massive CPU overhead required).

Definitely, having a clickwheel on an iPod with plenty of space is just silly...

I think the 3rd generation iPod is the coolest one (in every way except features and size), and definitely the most iconic, but the click wheel is clearly an improvement when it comes to usability. I think that making a new version of the 3G would just completely devalue the current 3rd generation iPods which would be bad. I also hope that firewire does not come back, because the firewire chipset (?) is much bigger than the USB 2.0 one, meaning the iPod has to be noticeably thicker, for a fairly pointless reason. Sorry

I absolutely love this iPod.

I want to buy one now. Its the first iPod I have ever actually used (a friend had it) and I love the red-lit buttons.

Any sellers?
