2 internal drive bays, support for 4GB ram (realistically priced ram), decent video card
I'd buy that. Apple'd build it? Doubt it. Highly. Be a nice surprise though...Call it the MacSemiPro
I don't mind the price of the MacPro, but the size and the ram cost is too much.

I'm not very keen on the size of that thing. It's too big for on top of a desk and too pretty for a cabinet. I've had a G4 Powermac for over 6 years and it sits inside a desk cabinet. I like the Mini b/c it looks good but takes up little space. I figure a mid-tower/new cube should do just that. Just enough form factor to accommodate it w/o being obtrusive. It can be to the desktop what the iMac is to the all in one.

It's been a while since we've seen a whole new Mac as such - the closest is the MacBook.

The existing range is excellent but still lacking that midi orientated to the switchers market.

Is Apple losing confidence in it's ability to design or just distracted by other non-Mac OS based products we shall soon see?

If HP can design a good spec PC to a reasonable price then Apple can design a better one with a unique conceptual slant for not to much more!

I just want a smaller form factor for the Mac Pro. A "PRO" in a macbook size.

Why is that so hard?

Is there a release rumored for this that I have missed?
