Again though. That is the point of notifications. To be seen and acted upon. Not to be hidden away somewhere to get lost.
I feel that the true point here is how you and other guys understand “notifications”, or rather “tech industries” and users.
Banner notification is much better because nowadays, every single ***** app wants to keep notifying you “hey, you have a new reply on your feed”, “please come! Your base is under attack!”, something like that. If the old style “alert” is still present, the huge interruption of workflow is more than enough to drive some people mad and want to smash their phone.
It is true that for a good’old fashion “calendar events”, it is good to force user to take actions before moving on. Not the case anymore in 2018 as we usually receive 10+ if not hundreds of notifications. Sadly, Notification is still a way that we get important notices. This video explains my main point a bit more in depth.

Hell no! It’s bad enough the stupid call screen still pops up in full screen.
Yeah, so extremely annoying. My work mate complains about this dumb feature several times already!

May they enjoy their lack of sales as they annoy more and more of their users.
Aren’t they enjoy their lack of sales for two years already? Well, I guess they want to enjoy lack of sales for another year. Good for them.

Disruptions are subjective as well just as preferences in alert styles are.
Yup. You know what, I just experienced a live example of intrusive “phone call alert” causing driver to miss the exit of a motorway during navigation because phone call Notification is not the “banner style” you hate so much. No offence, but I agree that “disruptions are subjective”.
