The OS on my iPod touch got me hooked. From that day on I knew I wanted a Mac and waited for my PC to fail.

The iPhone is like the best of everything only in the shape of an apple. We can't bend that shape or make it our own, yet the iPhone is still the best touchscreen OS there is. I found others to be so complicated that you end up working about the phone to get what you want ( the same can be said for PCs).

At the end of the day I would love to give it some of my own twists, yet even it having none of our personal touches it blows other phones out of the water.

Your phone and iPod in one device? Genius. My pockets thank apple because now I only need one thing for my trip to class, my iPhone.

I think part of apple's philosophy is to err on the more simple side so it remains more user friendly and problem free. As far as the custom tone thing I like being able to have my own ringtones (doing the loophole way in iTunes), and I miss being able to have custom mms tones like I did on my pearl.

I was using my wifes bb Curve, and the GUI is horrible IMO I played an mms video that I sent her(testing to see if my mms was really working) and I had to scroll with that little ball up to some thing that said mute and then another thing that had the volume setting. by the time i got both those changed, the video clip had ended.

As far as the volume being loud on ringing:

what I think is sweet is when I have it plugged into my car (simple 1/8th in stereo jack) the volume automatically goes to where I had it last.(9.5/10 volume) when I put on the headphones(with mic) it goes down to where I had it last, and when I unplug it, it goes to where it was last time I didn't have anything plugged in. This is genius I didn't have to set this up at all. I rarely have to adjust the volume.

I think the problem one of the previous posts was having is they need to turn off the iPod, turn down their ring volume, then go back into iPod. If your ring is set to the max, and your listening to music at a low volume, I think it will blast your ears. It would be nice if they fixed this, maybe in a future update.

my only real annoyance with having an iPhone is that I have to baby it cause it's so expensive. like having a new car

the downfall of the E71 is mail. other wise it would be a nice handset. it certainly has the looks covered. but you cant sync mail (certainly with exchange) below the inbox. so if you have loads of subfolders you can forget even viewing those, never mind syncing them to get mail if you have any rules set up.

they may have fixed this huge downfall, ofcourse (we don't have enough of them to worry about firmware or software updates), but certainly the ones we have cant drill down past the inbox unless you buy another mail app.

and i agree with creon. the iphone cant necessarily do everything the user wants, but it offers the best experience in what it can do. it has by far the best touch screen os out there.
