I just discovered that the problem I had with Safari that convinced me to switch to Chrome got fixed somewhere along the line. I quit Safari a longtime ago because whenever I opened it after rebooting my old MBP it would take what seemed like 30 days and 30 nights to load my homepage. When I first tried this on my MBA several months ago, Safari still loaded much more slowly than Chrome did so I stuck with Chrome.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I have also come to rely on the Chrome utility that prompts you to save a username and password for further use. Some highly secure sites, my bank's for instance, block the utility somehow but it works for most sites.SafariRestore adds this function if you're interested
I searched Safari's preferences, albeit briefly, looking for a utility that would prompt me to save usernames and passwords but didn't find anything. How would I set it up? If it's too long a piece of string to explain here, please feel free to PM me. Thanks.
Thanks! Now that you've told me where it is, it turns out I already had it setup in my Safari preferences but didn't know it. One of these days I will shake off my sloth and give Safari an extended workout.
When I first migrated to Mac, I decided to force myself to use only Mac apps, whenever possible, so I would learn them faster. As a result, I've found Safari to be more than satisfactory for my needs, even though I was a die-hard Firefox user in Windows.
Interesting. When I got my first Mac in 2003 I shifted from MS Explorer, which I had used on Windows machines for many years, to Safari. I used Safari on my Macs exclusively until a year or two ago, when I shifted to Chrome. As noted in earlier posts, Chrome loaded faster than Safari and handled tabs much better, too. Although most of Safari's weaknesses have been corrected, I have come to like Chrome quite a lot so, being lazy, I will stick with it for now.
