I switched to Chrome a few weeks ago after 3 years with Safari. I like Chrome a little better. But when Lion comes out I heard some of the new features will only be supported for Safari. At that point I will be trying Safari back.

I use Firefox; tried Safari when I first migrated from Vista to an MBA, but never got used to it, so reverted to FF. Probably ought to give Safari another go, but maybe sometime....

I'm also a Firefox fan...why?

- Great set of plugins
- With Firefox 4 it's very fast (running the RC)
- I generally like the way it looks

Obviously to each his own, but there are just little things that annoy me about Safari (ex.-don't have plugins that I want) and Chrome (not as spartan with memory).

Safari is the worst browser out there.
I have the feeling that it is three times slower than the other browsers.

I think that Firefox 4 is the best browser because it's the fastest.
I did test Chrome 10 but for the webpages which I visit most Firefox is faster.

It's all about speed isn't it ?

Any proof?

Any proof?

Any proof?

Is it? It may be for you, but not for everyone.

Try it out for yourself .
I think you might need no more proof than that.

I'm sure that for the majority of people the speed of the browser is top priority especially having in mind that the other features are nearly same quality in all top browsers.

when i bought my mba i started using safari as it was built-in. But then i installed firefox and noticed that safari was spendind more memory then ff but nothing that would compromise performance...i stick with FF only because im more used to it.

Generally, I think that Today's browsers are all very similar and its really a question of taste.

I am having some weird delay issues using SAfari and Gmail on my 11" MBA.

See this thread where I wrote about it:

Hi all. I just received my 13in 4ram 128 Air and I was curious what you all use as your primary web browser? I use Firefox at work but have become increasingly annoyed with its crashing and resource hogging.
Do people like Firefox on the Air? Should I experiment with Chrome? Or just stick with Safari?
Thanks for any help all.

Chrome becomes a memory hog for those who love having tons of tabs open (me included) so I avoid it like the plague. I use it on a PC as a 2nd browser to Firefox, but only with 2 tabs max and its never been impressive there (just that Safari on a PC is pretty bad, and IE is something I never bother with).

Firefox is my main browser - it has extensive add-on support but I've had crashes on OSX before with earlier versions of 3.6, but of late they've gone away. There are times it gets stuck with scripts... typically from a very active Facebook chat group window being open, once I stop the script and close the window and reopen it, things are back to normal.

Safari works but it lacks the add-ons and such.

I use chrome but I'll admit that it wouldn't kill me to switch over to firefox. I just like it a lot beter because it feels much snappier. The most distinguishing feature to me is that chrome's adblock features lack a LOT compared to firefox. Adblock Plus nor Adblock can block pandora ads whereas Firefox's can block Pandora as well as hulu ads. In addition, Chrome doesn't support a download manager such as "download them all" whereas in firefox this is not a problem. So although chrome does feel a lot snappier to me, maybe I'll switch to firefox once the full retail version comes out (after the RC2)

Safari lacks the most in addons and feels the least "snappiest" to me. Those who argue "iDisk" is better than "dropbox" or those who are stupid enough to pay for apple's "mobileme" service just so everything they use on a laptop can be considered "apple" will most likely be seen using safari. Maybe they're OCD or have a strange obsession with apple. I don't know. All I'm saying is I see no reason in using safari over firefox or chrome but I'm not trying to stop anyone. I'm just posting my opinion.

I use Safari without Flash.

Under Safari's Preferences menu on the advanced tab, you can click the box to 'Show Develop menu in menu bar', which I enabled.

So I get good battery life, and anytime I run into a page where I need Flash, I just click the Develop menu and choose 'Open page with Chrome', and it autoloads the page with Chrome which has flash baked in. Works perfectly for me.

I stopped using Firefox a while ago because it was horribly slow, though it has the best extensions. From what I've read the newer versions sound faster, but I've never had Chrome or Safari cause any frustrations, so I probably won't go back until I find a need, not to mention that Chrome and Safari have caught up extension-wise for the most useful, popular extensions anyway.

In order to keep my MBA, flash free, I went with this setup.....

It has been perfect, and also has improved my battery life.
