It came today! Here are the specs!

i5 3.6ghz processor
8g RAM
Radeon 5670 GPU
1TB HD

To answer the obvious ones first: There is NO yellowing on the screen whatsoever. Also no dead or stuck pixels as far as I've been able to tell (and I've spent about 20 minutes looking with all sorts of different screen scenarios.

So far no HD noise out of the ordinary- virtually silent.

Graphics: So far it's great. Will be running it on WoW here hopefully in the next hour. So... If you've got any questions feel free to post em up!

Great to hear about your new iMac! Could you do some benchmarks or maybe that Geekbench? Obviously the biggest question in this forum is that should we settle for the i3 550 or should we pay the extra for the i5 680.

There is only one i5 680 score at the moment (and only 32-bit, not 64-bit) and it was 6800. i3 550 people have got scores as low as 5800-5900 but as high as 6600-6700. This makes it tough to know to know whether the i5 is bang for the buck (especially since that one tester had 12 gigs of RAM which might give an advantage over those with only 4 gigs of RAM).
 
If it is a 21.5" you needn't worry about screen issues. It's the 27" that are having issues

I think that was true last time around. From what I've been reading on the forums the last week or so it's the smaller iMacs that seem to be having problems this time. I'm pleased this machine has a good screen though - no yellow stains or strange whistles. Makes me feel better about making a decision soon.

I'd love to get the 64-bit for you guys but I spent the 20 bucks on an Apple Remote (lol). So unless anyone has a serial, I'm afraid I can't do that- which makes me feel like a jerk.
 
Good to know, thanx. As far as the noise go, it doesn't bother me one bit coming from a wind tunnel testing facility that is the Quad G5, with fans on 3400+rpm even at idle.

My G5 was the loudest machine I have ever owned. Running Safari solo was work for that machine.
 
Wow, nice score. Was that 32bit? Post the whole thing, we need the data. It'd be great if you can do the 64bit as well.

This may be a rookie question, but I can't find specifics of what the geekbench score actually measures. Any chance you could help me out? I'm waiting for a new Core i3 3.2 iMac to be delivered, and currently have a Macbook 2.2 that scored 3098.

That's impressive. That's about a 16 percent increase over the 3.2 i3. Looks like a very fast machine.

Any heat issues you've noticed in the smaller case? I wondered if this might be a problem once they stuck a faster processor in the smaller iMac...
