How many times do you hear on the news "He always seemed like a normal guy" from the neighbours of the latest mass murderer with 100 bodies in his cellar?
People hide stuff all the time, I've known four people who have attempted suicide after I'd known them for a while, and I wouldn't have expected it of any of them. 50% success rate btw.

That's because neighbours know dick all about their neighbours. Just because a guy looks normal when taking out the trash doesn't mean they have a lot of insight about their neighbour. Reporters just need to interview someone who knows of him/her.
Yeah, I think I'd be pretty good at hiding it (if suicide had crossed my mind).
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that he cannibilies the victim. He actually ate chunks of the guy. And when he was arrested they found one of the victims ears, his lips, and nose(or eye, can't remember which) in his pocket.
To say that someone should have stopped the offended is great, but it isn't as easy as that. By the time most people realized what happened he had already blead to death.

If I had to guess, the guy is likely paranoid schizophrenic, and stopped taking his meds.
I had a family member that did something like this (self inflicted though). They tend to confuse the delusions for reality, and react to false perceptions. Sad.
If this is the case, he should be held accountable. Patients on these types of meds are instructed by their physicians not to abruptly discontinue them, yet made a conscious decision to do so.
The problem is is that one of the features of schizophrenia is a lack of insight (medical term) into their condition - meaning that compliance with management regimes is often complicated. This, coupled with the alienating features of the disease such as withdrawal, blunted emotions and altered speech and behavioural patterns often lead to a loss of family support, leading to a viscious cycle of worsening symptoms.
The fact is though, Schizophrenia IS a disease - not a choice, not reduced to such words as SICKOs.

Besides, how often do you see guys play-fighting, goofing off, etc.? Especially if the guy seemed so calm (as opposed to a yelling, screaming, rage, where you can see it coming). Interfering, may not have stopped the victim from dyeing, but it would have stopped the mutilation. The family was denied an open casket funeral. Their last memory will be a horrifying.
I agree with you about the families last memory, however the man was already dead. I don't want to sound insensitive, because it is truely horrible, but why risk your life protecting a dead body?
I honestly don't know what I would do in that situation, and I really hope I never have to find out.
I don't think in tackling the guy my first thought would be that I was doing it to protect a dead body; in all likelihood those on the bus during the attack may only have been aware of the attack, not whether the victim was dead at the point that they chose to act or not, and in choosing to act they may have been trying to prevent him moving to another victim.

The worst part about the WBC is that they have their young children holding signs that they don't even understand.
I am so angry about the WBC. They have no right to be here. And some did make it into Manitoba. They expressed mailed their signs and pamphlets, so the crossed the boarded without anything identifiying them.

He did cannibilise the victim, but not his brain or intestines. Considering he was holding the head, he couldn't have eatten the brain. I believe, nvm, we don't need gory details. But yes, what you heard sounds like the rumour mill.
I hate these extremist groups like WBC that try to claim that an act like this was the work of God. Trying to relate all AIDS related deaths to homosexuality, come on, who are they trying to kid. Think of countries like Haiti and look at the spread of AIDS there, the passing on of it there was not because of a homosexual community, but rather a lack of knowledge and lack of protective means. These people at WBC are trying to take a horrible act labeled as being done by God, to be honest, anybody who believes the message they are trying to portray I have one message for, SCREW YOU

Their website is godhatesf*gs.com. It's dispicable. There is no reason for hate like that. I hope if they try and cross the boarder into Canada to protest they are arrested. The boarder guard has been told not to let them into our country.
