Point this out to him:

Over 900,000 viruses, trojans, worms etc on windows OS's.

Just under 20 for all mac OS's. (And these we're all in Classic -not OSX)

That alone is a big time saver for the IT dept. in trying to fix your computer.

I wish it were that easy! I'm not being cynical but I've worked for two mac-hating companies where the IT group would rather eat their own cooked hair than spend one second on a mac because most of them have no clue how to troubleshoot/network/admin/lockdown unix/macs. Why? Because they are usually swamped already with what they DO know and don't have time to learn unix/osx just to support a minority of users. It is a very hard sell.

Dual Boot

Glad everything worked out for you!

I've been fairly lucky in my current job but in the past I have come up against the anti-Mac police. I work at a university and all the core systems are run on windows (email, server systems etc). When I needed to prove the worth of getting new Macs - Parallels saved me. By implementing a Parrallels install the Mac now becomes dual-boot - and therefore 2 computers - which in finance terms is pretty good ROI!. You can do your normal office stuff through Windows - and your design work in the Mac environment. Seeing as you're doing webdesign - testing too is much simpler. I had to spec PCs and was surprised that specking up a Dell to a similar Mac Pro, the Mac turned out to be cheaper (just because the standard Mac config was better). Add that to the 2 OS setup and I was easily able to convince some fairly ignorant management.

congrats, what finally won him over. Just curious so I can use it in the future should I need to?

Being realistic; I didn't come off like a fan-boy. I was just honest regarding testing, and productivity. He even didn't rule out moving the whole design team to Macs.

The problem I'll have there is the price of the Mac Pros. I was very lucky to get mine. The iMac isn't powerful enough, and the Mac Pro is incredibly powerful... Apple need to release something in-between.
