Yeah s***w that. Go into the Apple Store. Buy the new remote (they should have stock today). Take it out of the package IN THE STORE. If it isn't straight, ask for another one. Repeat until you do. Then, return the other remote in that separate packaging within 14 days for your refund. :)

Edit: And, yes, I'm usually a proponent for not needlessly costing Apple money. BUT - this QA is completely unacceptable!!!
The only problem I had with returning the whole thing was the power cable, I’d have had to move the TV and the cabinet to get it out again. So I just gave them an old power cable from an Apple TV HD instead.

Yeah, I'm actually using the new cable for the old ATV4k, as it's migrating to the bedroom and didn't want to bother fishing the other one out from behind the TV stand. :). It's the same cable - no point.

Setup was easy. :)

Edit: Oh - and the labels on my buttons are actually straight - so, hopefully that isn't a wide-spread quality issue. :)

By the way, has anyone figured out how to the the iPod click wheel style scrolling yet?
Yes. You need to pause and then hold your finger for a second on the click wheel. As soon as this little scroll wheel in the timeline appears you can start scrolling. It's not very intuitiv, took me a while to figure this out too.

Mine are also at a jaunty angle. The home button is fine, but the back, play and mute buttons are off. I don’t feel like swapping the entire thing, so I’m just gonna live with it.

Does Apple ship a user's manual with these things, or is it some kind of puzzle that the user is supposed to enjoy solving?
