Sorry if I sound crazy for asking but how do you do that? (Block ads on YouTube). Thanks.
uBlock Origin on any full web browser (not iPad or iPhone) or pay for YouTube Premium. This is what I do because I watch so much content and I don't want to cheat content creators out of what little add money they make.

Between the two I wouldn't get either, instead, I would pick MacBook Air M1 and further save money. The base MBA M2s are actually gimped laptops compared to base M1 when it comes to storage! What are your long terms plans for your Asus laptop? Do you have requirement for running any Windows specific applications? It sounds like an excellent opportunity for you to migrate from Windows to macOS. If you get MBA you should also be able to perhaps resell your Asus laptop, further narrowing the gap or making it actually better deal to go with MBA then iPad.

If you spend a lot of time on youtube, being on an m1 or m2 MacBook air means you can block video ads with ease. That alone is a major perk to me. I have the M2 MacBook Air(love it) and a Pro Max iPhone.
That’s what the Brave browser does on my iPad too.

You have to view the iPad as a device in Apple's computer lineup rather than an accessory. Its the $700 price point machine.

So, if you were buying a Windows portable would you spend $700 for what you need or $1200?

Same as M series laptops and desktops.

This is not new thing.

If you want to draw then it is the main feature. My wife enjoys drawing on iPad Pro with pencil.

MacBook comes with keyboard already.

The most advanced and efficient versions of M series are in iPads.

MacBooks come with a keyboard and trackpad, but no touch or pencil support.

The point is ipad can do it all without compromise.

Yet Apple says the M series processors are designed the for Mac. Notice it’s an M, not I.

If iPad can do it all, then it should be more expensive than a Mac. You can’t even connect more than one monitor to iPad.

The iPad can do most things the average laptop user wants to be able to do, though I don’t agree that it is without compromises. iPadOS makes most computing tasks more cumbersome than on a Mac. I think this is due to its origins as a phone OS where file support was tacked on fairly recently. I would choose my Mac for laptop-ish tasks every time (which is why I ultimately ditched my iPad Pro and got a mini). The iPad can do most things I want. But it’s easier and more enjoyable on my Mac.

And if you need specialized software, there usually is only one option. And it’s not iPad.

iPads are different from Macs, but not necessarily more “futuristic”. If anything, I think Apple flailing around since 2015 trying to make the iPad Pro a “laptop replacement” has only highlighted the point that touch first devices are not best for all tasks.

This. I touch my iPad screen: the apps on it require that interaction, and it's great. When I need to type on a keyboard, I don't attach a separate keyboard to the iPad - I use my laptop (a device with a keyboard permenantly factored into its design).

I am not keen to get into a MBA v IPP argument but my MBA M1 can't even connect more than one monitor either.

Most ad blockers will take care of ads on YouTube when using Safari, which is the only way I access YouTube. I use Adguard on my iPad and phone and Wipr on my laptop. Wipr does not allow you to whitelist a site, you would just have to turn it off for a site if there is an issue. But I primarily use my iPad so I use Adguard on it which allows me to have it automatically disabled for some sites where there may be issues. But I haven’t seen an ad on YouTube in a long time. Every now and then Google will alter something that gets past all the blockers but they usually catch up pretty quickly.
