Buy Apps Again?

I believe when you buy an app it will work on every ipod or phone you have. I have about 4 pieces myself.
This is where I get confused a little. You can send your apps to other computers that are authorized under your iTunes account. So I have 5 computers authorized and people who use those computers can use those apps with their phones.
I wonder what will happen for the apps now that iTunes music is going DRM free. Hope the apps will to but I don't think so

Okay but, I can only use the iPhone with one computer? In our situation we will be purchasing two iPhones, we each have our own computer in our house. I would like to not have to spend the money twice for the same apps. I would assume the apps can only be on one computer.

in case you didn't understand the first few times they actually answered your question here's a longer explanation of exactly the same thing that they've already said.
You can authorize your iTunes account on up to 5 computers.
That means you can use iTunes synced to the same account on 5 computers that are "yours" (or yours and your girlfriends, for example).
What it means is that if you purchased music on computer1, you can have it transfered to computer2 aswell - when you have authorized them both to the SAME itunes-account. The same goes for apps for iPhone & iPod Touch.
So, all you have to make sure is that you won't make 2 accounts (one each) but just one that you will both use. You will need to connect a credit (or debit) card to this account so if you don't have one that you two share, you must choose whom will pay the bills for all purchases of apps and music.

Let me help you understand as the poster'S above did...
EVERYTHING...iPhone, Touch, iPods, iTunes are ALL related to your iTunes ACCOUNT....Not the computer, not a Mac or PC or any other item or program.
ANY item that you purchased, downloaded or installed freely from iTunes to a computer or iPhone or iTouch or iPod using your CURRENT iTunes ACCOUNT can be transferred to any additional computer regardless of make or model up to 5 AUTHORIZED computers that you authorized using the SAME iTunes account.
If you change accounts, make another or use someone else's, then you can't transfer or use their downloads.
Music and videos can be transferred to those AUTHORIZED computers using a thumb drive, external drive or what ever transfer method you use.
Apps can be clicked on in the iTunes store and downloaded for FREE to any of your AUTHORIZED computers that are logged on to that original account. It will ask if you want to purchase it but after you click on the purchase it will say you already own it...do you want to download again.
There is no other way to explain this to you. If you need more assistance then you really need to go here and read it for yourself instead of repeating your questions. We are willing to assist and answer questions but not reworded questions of answers already provided.

I contacted apple and i received a response telling me to just buy it again and it will ask if i want to download it again for free.
My question is: Can we always re-download apps we paid for or did the apple rep allow me to download that one app again?

You can always re-download the apps you paid for (or got it for free) without being charged twice. This is only for apps, not for music or video from iTunes since you will get charged twice for those.
I just tried getting an app I downloaded on another computer to my iPhone. It said if I did this then I lose all my current apps on my iPhone and the apps from that computer would be put in it.
I figured out how to authorized other computers but it is transferring everything from another iPhone to my computer and all I want to do is transfer certain apps not the entire music collection. l am so lost.

Well this may be the problem, as we have two separate iTunes accounts, one on each computer. Is there a way to have them both on the same computer?
Nope, not without driving yourself insane. You can use more then one account on each computer but you would have to unauthorize the computer log out of 1st account then log into second account and authorize computer...etc.
My wife and I use the same account on 4 different computers and we have never had a problem. Your only other sane option is to use two computers or send a letter to iTunes requesting merge of the two accounts.
Let this be a lesson to others out there as well. Apple is strict so you have to play by the rules to retain some sanity and flexibility with your libraries. If you are a family then use the same account and save money. But to each his own.

Here is what I did to get the apps I paid for on one computer put to the other without paying for the app again. Both computers were authorized in iTunes for both iPhones. I copied the apps to a USB thumbstick.
Seems like when you have multiple iPhones and computers, apps should be sync'd just as easy as music on iTunes but they aren't.

Transfering Apps purchased under one iTunes account to another
I purchased some Apps for my son when he got his new iPof Touch for Christmas, using my iTunes account. When we got home from holidays and he set up his iTunes account on his own computer, and started buying music and apps through his account, the Apps I'd purchased through my account stopped working.
I can see why this would be the case - but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get these apps running on this other account...
My son is really disappointed - he was just starting to get into his games!

I ran into a snag with paid apps I copied from my iPhone to a USB thumbdrive and put on another iPhone. The apps won't take the updates. For instance Koi Pond is updated on my iPhone but when we run the app update on the other iPhone it won't do it. So I wonder if I have to copy the updated app all over again and transfer it, so it will have the update.
UPDATE: I confirmed the only way to get the apps updated is by copying them (via a USB drive) and making the transfer all over again.
