I ran into a snag with paid apps I copied from my iPhone to a USB thumbdrive and put on another iPhone. The apps won't take the updates. For instance Koi Pond is updated on my iPhone but when we run the app update on the other iPhone it won't do it. So I wonder if I have to copy the updated app all over again and transfer it, so it will have the update.

UPDATE: I confirmed the only way to get the apps updated is by copying them (via a USB drive) and making the transfer all over again.

Resist,
can you summarize whatever you have learnt in the process of transferring, rebuying, re-synching, updating, cross-moving, carrying the itunes accounts, computers, ipods, ifones, devices, macs, pcs into a quickly learnable point-by-point note? this will help others to resist the temptation to ask similar questions. admin can make it sticky if its neatly formatted.

I'll save him the trouble of what you're asking for:

Alternatively, if you take your PC and your iMac to an Apple Store, an Apple Genius can transfer all of your data for you, and help you set up the iPhone.

You can also copy the .ipa files from the one computer's harddrive and then drop them into the authorized iTunes on the other computer and they will be available for use when you sync.

Speaking of the .ipa files, i have all my apps on my local C: drive on my office computer. iTunes is installed on my C: drive as well. I recently cut and pasted all my iPhone stuff (music, movies, photos, ringtones) to another shared network (Q:)drive here in the office because my C: drive is running out of space. The problem is how do i get the iTunes syncing to recognize the .ipa files on the network Q: drive rather than insisting on re-copying them to the C: drive. There doesn't seem to be an option for re-pathing the location of the app files. Can anyone help? Thanks!
