I’m surprised you wouldn’t even wait a month to see if they will announce another event. Nonetheless there are some good deals to be had, and that’s an excellent machine.

The one thing I’d love to see though in a new generation is a backlit Smart Keyboard.
My Logitech keyboard folio is backlit. For what I do I don't think there is anything earth shattering feature wise that would really benefit me.

The rumours now say March 2020 so seems a good buy

At this point you should wait. If one launches next month the previous models go down in price. So you would end up paying full price for a device that is about to have a price drop.

Rumor has it the new iPad Pros are going to launch in November 2019 or March 2020. End of October should tell us.

Main 4th generation iPad Pro release date rumours are:

2019 fall
2019/2020 winter
2020 spring

The most trusted rumours are the first two. 2020 spring is from less well recognized leakers.

At this point, if you’re at all interested in the 4th gen iPad Pro, I think it’s foolish not to wait to see if there is an event announcement in the next 4 weeks.

Last year the invitations went out on Thursday, Oct. 18, for the event on Oct. 30. If there is an event this year and the pattern holds true, the invites could come on or about Oct. 17.

For us in Canada though, the decision is easier, because the pricing on the old models still sucks. The main pricing advantage to buying now is being able to make use of the Back-To-School promotion, if you’re eligible.

If it's more expensive in Canada can you order it by mail from the US? Or if you are near the border drive over and buy it?

No. Amazon Canada doesn’t sell it and Amazon USA doesn’t ship Apple products internationally. Neither does the US Apple store or Best Buy USA. Best Buy Canada doesn’t have the same sales as Best Buy USA.

Or if you are near the border drive over and buy it?
I don’t live by the border. But even if I did, it would depend on local store stock. Or you can sometimes ship to a PO Box. However, it’s a hassle and the added Canadian taxes don’t help because you end up paying tax twice (US and Canadian). It also makes returns problematic.

With my son’s College ID we got an education discount. I got Like 50 bucks off the iPad and 15 dollars off the pencil and got Apple Care for 100 dollars instead of 129 and a free Pair of Beats Solo Wireless 3 headphones. So it was worth it.

2019 fall or 2019/2020 winter: Bloomberg (Mark Gurman, Debby Wu - fall), Ming-Chi Kuo (mass production in late 2019 / early 2020), EEC registration (since EEC registration back in July suggests sooner rather than later)

2020 spring: The Elec and other little known sources, although Ming Chi-Kuo's statement doesn't exclude 2020 spring as the release date, since his quoted dates refer to when mass production begins

I‘m a computer consultant and when it comes to upgrading any computer or phone or tablet I ask my customers a couple simple questions:

Does your current computer/tablet/phone still do what you need it to do? (does it have enough space, runs all your apps, isn’t physically broken, are you still satisfied with it, do you like it?)
If yes, stay with what you have for now.
If not, get the new one.

Can you afford the new item?
If yes, buy it if you want/need it.
If not, then clean up the current device or change your workflow until you can.

Don’t worry too much about the next model, there’s always another model coming.
(One exception to that is if you absolutely know there will be another one coming next week.)

I don't think they will release another iPad this year - what could they add that would be a meaningful upgrade? ... but maybe if they want to boost sales leading up to xmas... If you've waited this long another month will be worth it if there is a new model. Then you have the option of buying the current one at a discount. My iPad 11" 2018 is brilliant.... the iOS updates to iPad and iPhone have made both devices kind of 'new' again...

Several days ago I bought an iPad Pro 11'' and now... I've got some doubts whether I was in a hurry: how much of a difference will potential additional 2 GB of RAM in the next iPad Pros will make for the future, given that I do not perform really resource-intensive tasks? My rationale for choosing Pro version: Pro motion, quad speaker, incredible design.

There is no way of knowing what difference potential RAM will help. But you already mention that you don’t perform heavy intensive tasks. I don’t think you should worry... that’s if you bought iPP on a good discount.

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, you’re right, I’ve purchased it with a rather substantial discount for my country. And I hope, that reading books, watching movies and events on sports apps, as well as playing some medium resource-consuming games and office work won’t be able to slow my iPad down soon.

I wouldn’t be too concerned. My iPad Pro is in its third year of daily use and still going strong. Yours will have no problem with what the apps have to offer for a long time.

I got a used 64 GB 10.5 Pro on Swappa in really good condition for like $330.....it's good enough for what I plan to use it for. I didn't wanna spend $800+ for the newest Pro

Thanks for your reassurance. Another point: iPad Air 2 with 2 Gigs of RAM is still a really decent device 5 years after release.

Top for its money and a good choice, but I just ambiguously wanted that precious piece of design the newest Pro is + some more of a time-proof.

Very fast and speakers are fine. I bought an iPad Pro 11-inch last week, replacing my iPad 4, purchased in Nov. 2012. Big difference!
That's just what I did! I took advantage of a great price break on the iPad 11" 256GB model on Amazon to replace my 7 year old iPad 4!

I just bought a iPad Pro 11 64GB for $649 on Amazon. Even if a new one comes out early next year, this is a great deal. I was going to just get the $250 deal for the iPad 10.2 32GB, since I only really need it as a Roon controller, but I changed my mind. The Pro 11 will be useful for other stuff as well.

I’ve been waiting to get the Pro for months now. Waited for the October update and it didn’t come. Was gutted because I wanted one for holidays in summer gone.

Now I waited for Black Friday sales but discounts not good enough in the UK.

But wow, I hate to make anyone jealous here but I was given £300 John Lewis voucher today at work. I can’t believe it. So guess what, I’ve just now ordered an iPad Pro 11”.

£427!

Now surely *thats* worth it!?! I’m very excited. It arrives Sunday click and collect.
I’d still pay £700 now if anyone is thinking about it, they are so powerful.

I jumped in early on a refurb 512GB 12.9” Cellular iPP (2017) for $550 and dang, what a monster this thing is. Coming from a OG iPad Air 32GB, the exact model I have sold out quick on Amazon despite it being the 2017 2nd genGoing this route, I managed to get a lot more bang for the buck after looking at the current gen 11” iPP

I feel this model has a lot of support life still in it and iPadOS is buttery smooth.

I think at that price it’s a no brainer
