I don't think the Apple Watch could replace my iPod Shuffle for the use I give to it. For example, I like to change songs without looking at the device, just by touching its buttons. I'm afraid that cannot be carried out with the Apple Watch.

Often BT headphone controls allow you to switch songs by pressing their buttons.

After half a year of using the Apple Watch for my daily 1.5 hours treadmills and other various gym exercises. I found myself only using the Apple Watch in the gym. Anything else the Apple Watch is useless.

1. Loading songs into the Apple Watch is a hassle, you have to load songs through iTune into your iPhone first then transfer the songs from the iPhone to the Apple Watch via Bluetooth... and your apple watch must be charging.

2. Dowloading an mp3 song is not as easy or straight forward as the Napster era. Now a days everyone use Sportify or other streaming services.

So, I am thinking of getting an ArmBand with iPod Touch. Play music from Sportify offline, at least I will get to listen to the latest Songs available.

I own a shuffle and a touch (and a ton of other Apple gear) and of the two I greatly prefer the shuffle for use when exercising. I load the shuffle with what I want to hear and don't have to deal with it other than turning it on. With the touch I have to look at a screen and mess with it. Plus it is to big and heavy. The shuffle is small enough I can clip it to the neck ribbing of a tee-shirt and not notice it. A shuffle is easy to manage, just drag the files you like to it

So, if the Apple Watch is only useful in the gym, and you are thinking of getting an iPod Touch, should I assume Apple Watch is useless in your case?

For me, iPod Shuffle rocks, although I was considering the Apple a Watch as a substitute.

It is useless for me. The songs transfer part is just lame with bluetooth, too slow.

And the watch conflict with the bluetooth in my car since my iPhone is connected to my car as well.

Maybe wait for a few more revision of the Watch before trying again.

I saw an older guy on a plane yesterday who was wearing an old iPod nano on his wrist. At first I thought it was an Watch, but then I realized his white earbuds were plugged into it.

I have to say, it did not look as odd, or ridiculous as I thought it would. He had perfectly functional use of his arm with the earbuds attached and in his ears, and never once did there appear a risk of entanglement, or restriction.

I'd say find one of these on eBay -- they're a delight to use. It also occurs to me that a small Bluetooth module could be connected to it and mounted to the watch band, or otherwise attached to the forearm via a wristband to eliminate the wires completely (which one can do with the nano as well).

My bluetooth headphone connects to iPhone normally, so I need to re-connect to the watch and shift to the sports band if I use it in gym. iPhone looks more convenient tbh.

A woman at my gym jams her iPhone 6S Plus down the front of her ample sports bra, with earbuds connected. Doesn't look the least bit comfortable. So clearly wearing an iPod discreetly on ones wrist, with or without wires, does not carry the same appeal to all.
