I am also leaning toward the M1 iPad Pro 256 cellular. With more and more underwhelming reviews coming for the M2 I guess it makes more sense to go for the stabler M1 IPad Pro. In India it costs around 114000 Rupees which is 1450 USD or 1379 Euros. Prices are slowly falling. But Apple Tax is too much in India 😂

Hmm you are right. But 12.9 is really pushing the limit to Ipad size and a 14 inch would be too unwieldy. This iPad Cellular version would be for travel and on the go so I am always connected and can do work, light editing and other stuff on the go. Also I miss zipping out my MacBook Air M1 to have a quick email check or refer something. The MacBook Pro 16 is more like a desktop replacement which I won't travel with. So weighing everything. Lets see.
I have a Gen2 12.9 privately and a 2020 12.9 at work. The latter feels significantly smaller than the Gen2 iPad so I am not so concerned about a 14 inch in the 2020 iPP design.

I just picked up the iPad Pro 12.9 M1 with 256 GB storage For $850 (open box). Based off the throttling happening with the M2 and the recent rumors, I am not hearing much that is getting me excited for the next generation. Plus it will cost a lot more to buy the new version than $850.
yeah m2 has me very worried

still i believe next ipads will have much much better mini led ,just like the mbp nay better even

Wait for the M2 iPads. At this point, they're only a few months away and there's a good chance that the new models will also get a new Magic Keyboard. Plus, by the time the new iPads are out, we will also have iPadOS 16, which is a major step forward for people who intend to use it as a laptop replacement.

OP, if you really want it, get it. If you're not eager, wait it out. I just bought an M1 12.9 brand new from Apple with no regrets (10% discount didn't hurt). I will be using it for note taking, managing spreadsheets for my business, starting a podcast and general media consumption. Besides a possible landscape-oriented front facing camera, I don't think there's anything the M2 will bring that warrants me waiting. I assessed my wants and needs and bought based on what was available.

Eh...There isn't much known about the next releases. Other than that a 14" iPad Pro is likely on the menu. My gut (which isn't all that informed, admittedly) says that if you want a 12.9", maybe wait and if you want an 11", maybe buy. I sense more longevity for the former than the latter.

Depends on the price. I purchased a 12.9 iPad Pro M1 for $500 on my local FB Marketplace. Purchased magic keyboard for $120 on Mercari. Saved a bit :p
