Whoa... OK I distinctly remember buying thins from the Apple Store in the past (long past) and not being charged sales tax, but now I am. How could I have never noticed that?

Either way, the $100 printer off-sets the $68 tax, and shipping is still free.

Can you only get 1 GB of Ram when you order through Amazon? They definitely have a great price and I would like to get 2 GB. Thanks.

Yes, you can only order non-customized Macbooks from Amazon. But as it was said, take the $100 rebate you're getting, and spend the money on the RAM upgrade elsewhere. It's a MUCH better deal than going through Apple.

This could be a dumb question, but I was looking to get a MB (my first Mac!) a few months ago, and everyone said to wait until WWDC in June. Given that they just updated the MB's, is that advice still valid?

I'm headed back to school in the fall, which means I need one by Aug 15th (so no waiting for Leopard in Nov). It's looking like I should just go ahead and get one now.

I doubt the MBs will be updated again for at least 6 or so months, so go for it

Regarding sales tax-- my understanding is that if a vendor has a physical store in your state then they need to charge you sales tax for online purchases. So if you are fortunate enough to have an Apple Store in your state then you are unfortunate enough to need to pay yours state sales tax when buying from the online Apple Store. Comprehendo?!?

Link?

EDIT: Also, Apple is offering a refurbished model now at $999 with the same specs as the low end model, but with a Superdrive included. Seems like an excellent deal to me!

Anyone? Sounds like an interesting read.
