cant know until its out. The 16 is gorgeous for long term travel and editing. The MBA doesn't cut it there.
Very unluckily. Mini led is very expensive. The fact that they didn’t add that to the studio display makes me think they want to feature it only in the pro models.

I would opt for a maxed out Macbook Air. Personally, I don't see the point of the 14/16" Macbook Pro since you won't be taking them with you either. I'm sure the Macbook Air will be sufficient in addition to your existing iMac. Put the rest of the money on things like cloud storage, cellular plan, etc that will make you daily workflow easier. Just because the M1 Pro/Max is more powerful, doesn't mean the regular M1 is not.

Little update..I picked up a 16" today and was sure that it was going to be a great improvement BUT..
Tested it at home and played with it near the 14"..and jeeesus that is huge. The bigger size is overwhelming and now I realize the 14" size is closer to a perfect size than the 16" is.
Didn't expect that honestly. The 16” makes the 14” look too small when in reality is the 16” that is too big.

I'll stick to the 14".

I had the 2015 15 inch MBP then eventually upgraded to the 2020 13 inch MBP as I wanted a more portable machine. I have since upgraded to the 14 inch and to be honest I miss the smaller footprint of the old 13 inch MBP - but I like having all the ports back.

I do aviation photography and in my camera bag I have 2 Canon 7D II with Canon 100-400L II and 24-105L II attached respectively. I like to have my MacBook with me 90% of the time. But it makes my bag so heavy to lug around!

I have also considered the Air as a portable simple option but it just doesn't make sense for me. Hope you manage to make it work!
