Buy New Mac Mini or put work into old one?

if this helps, i have a mac mini, 2012 4gb , original HD that is running elcap OSX, works good, i used waterfox, itunes, and photoshop at once, sometimes a word program stops while editing (gedit) but im happy except the USB drives sometime does not drive the USB things like external DVD player and the nikon camera cards. i might get another bluetooth keyboard and mouse soon. Space grey is a color that really does not go great with black desks while the silver looks sharp on the desk.
