If I do end up buying it, I will either use my companies corporate discount or use my girlfriends student discount. But I might wait till version 2.

You should have used a poll and there is no guarantee these will be in the refurb store this fall. Apple has not even put the shuffle that was introduced in early 2009 in the refurb store. The new Nano's have not made it there yet.

I'm not buying, but I'll answer anyways.

I'd think one would want to see what problems the iPads even before buying a refurbished unit. Refurb revision As usually still have problems.

WRONG! The refurbs are usally better than buying brand new because apple tests them over and over again. They don't test every new unit. Plus you get the same warranty as a new product.

The only downside to buying refurbished is the ugly brown cardboard box it comes in (instead of the slick and shiny retail box).

I'll buy come release day. I've never been the type to worry about saving 10% on something. If it does what i want, and I can afford it, I buy it. I can't take my money with me so may as well enjoy it while I can :)

Er... no. If the same hardware is replaced, it's not any better than the original. "Refurb" means it has the same hardware (that's been found to be faulty in the original) and has been "tested" a couple times to make sure it will work for a while.

How is that not what I said?

Normally waiting for the refurb store is my M.O. but I don't think I will be able to be that patient this time. I would really like to see the 5G nano in the refurb store by the time the iPad comes out though, as it would be a better music player for me than the touch is (and I would no longer need the touch for video, apps, and web)...

What is with all the thread starters putting conditions on who can post in their threads now? You gotta be an expert. You gotta be buying. You gotta this or that.

This is the interwebz

Anyway, NO, I won't be buying a refurb
IF I buy, it will be new

Seriously man. Just getting tired of negative spin on the iPad. I would love this thread to be a positive discussion. This was my way of saying, nay sayers go elsewhere. Hope you understand. :)

Sorry, but just because you started a thread, doesn't mean you own it. Positive or negative, people can post if they want to. And stop creating multiple threads on the same topic.

I'm kind of meh on the iPad...... we'll see what future updates will bring. Do I feel compelled to get one? No, not in the same way as I was for the iPhone or for my MBP. Will I buy one when they come out? Maybe, if I'm bored and want a new toy.

Apple will eventually have to make an OSX touchscreen device, because it seems that is where the tech is heading. The Modbook is already >> iPad.

The other two were deleted. Don't play dumb. But way to guarantee that any thread you start about this from now on will NOT be about what you want it to be.

Am I talking to a 10 year old? I'm not playing dumb. I know they were deleted. That's why I asked "show me." What's with the pickle up your ass anyway? It's just a thread. What's with the "will NOT be about what you". Don't like this thread. Tough... Looking forward to an intellectual discussion about the topic which is, Will you be buying from the refurb store? That's it. Not looking to start any hoopla. I'm looking forward to the iPad.

Someone called you out on starting a thread that had this same question. Perhaps you weren't playing dumb but you were certainly banking on people's memories being real bad. You knew few could show you a thread that was deleted as it was deleted. If your thread is pointless enough to be deleted what makes you think a repost is necessary? This thread is no different than this thread.

While it is just a thread what you're not understanding is the comment that the thread won't be about what you want it to be about. In other words, putting restrictions on who can post a response and how a response should be posted for those who do is inane. What usually happens is you get 10 responses and one of the 10 may very well be the response you sought while the other 9 are going to gang up on you for post inane posting rules. It may not have been clear the way it was written to you, but it is clear to me and I bet it's clear to others.

Now, as far as your thread goes, I think those who want an iPad are waiting to see what happens. If they're crap and delievered with QC issues then some may wait for the QC issues (you know there's likely to be something) to be worked out then re-buy and buy new or they'll go refurb, save some cash and hope that the problem was worked out.
