By all means DO NOT get an iPhone 8 Plus. That Note 8 is a far superior device, and if you like, can be customized to look and feel like an iPhone (though I personally prefer a stock Android look). You may consider a different brand than Samsung though, because Samsung has their Android skinned to look like how they think customers will like it, and none of the reskinned/new apps actually have any benefit over stock Android. I am about to get an HTC One M9, and I’m very excited for the new Android 7.0 features I do not yet have.

In the end, all phones are boring. They are a tool after all.

I don't think the Note is a particularly good cross over device from Iphone. It is a productivity tool.

The s8+ would have been a better choice, of a Pixel XL if you want real simplicity.

I used a pixel before in the past. I was not a fan at all.
The s8 plus is a great device but I wanted the dual cameras.

Why weren't you a fan? Pixel had zero bloat except from Google. If you get a carrier-branded Samsung, it's bloat from the carrier, Samsung, and Google. Triple the bloat. Pixels are smooth and fluid. Excellent camera, solid battery life, and good audio.

Eh the last pixel was a year ago not 100 percent sure. Usually just go Samsung or iPhones and it' usually all I've owned.
The note 8 is a superior device but I think I desire the simplicity and have a familiar device.
The watch does it's part for notifications but it' not a fashion statement by any means....

This is why I like both the Pixel and iPhone, because they are both simple. I feel like companies such as Samsung make a device that is just overwhelming with options/configurations and requires more tinkering than I am interested in doing.

Pixels doesn't come with OEM and carrier bloat. Only Google's.

For hardware, I think Samsung is better all-around thanks to a better design, microSD slot, headphone port, etc.

Android fluidity started with the Nexus 5...

The Nokia 8 is also a decent stock android experience running on a SD835 + 6gb ram, with a 5.3” QHD screen good 13MP cameras and great build quality. Probably the one I’d go for if I was switching to android.

Others more Note 8 savvy than me will correct me if I'm wrong, hopefully, but I remember from the Note 3 in the settings there is a simple mode you can use where it just gives you a basic phone with things like camera, messages, gallery, calendar and a coulle of other basic apps. It's a setting you would switch to if your grandmother needed a phone for the day and you had to give her your note. It really dumbs the phone down to a cheap basic phone without anything fanciful.

Have you considered that? Or just don't customise. Set up your home screen in a grid of apps just like the iphone UI and be done with it. The options are always there later if you get bored of that.

Why is it called buyers remorse and not buyers regret?

Yeah. Well I'll make up my mind before the day is over. It's little quirks of both operating systems, price, and the watch plays a factor in this as well....
All of it works on either device. Just boiling it down to personal preference. I like the iPhone how it works and I like how android is more open. I like the features of the Apple watch but I like the look of the gear watch better.

I'l have my final decision by tonight....

I've had a Note 8 for a couple of months and not seeing this boat you are talking about. Smooth and fluid is pretty much how I'd describe it. I like the additions that Samsung has added, and I like having the choices. After being in Apple's walled garden for years it is refreshing.

So what was the decision?

You go with what OS suits you

Note 8 is a fantasic device but for many people won't use half the stuff thats on it. It's a device for a certain type of user. Some just might want a simple phone that does basic tasks.

android vs apple is so tough to measure as it all depends what ecosystem you like better.

iOS is too simple. The design of everything is easy on the eyes. The separation of icons and sections is easy to read. That is one thing I do miss.

But going to the note 8 I do understand theres greater customization. A greater learning curve. But I'm loving all the things that I wasn't able to do in iOS. I feel in much more control of everything.

I felt the same way u did the first 2 weeks. But after messing with my wife's iPhone X. I feel like I'm not missing much. The one thing real irritating thing is in my old imessage group chats I'm no longer receiving some text, photos. I see everyone's responses but never the original post. Trying figure my way around that.

I have a question about gmail. When ever I send an email there is an icon/image/picture that populates. How can I change the outgoing image if anyone knows?

Do you means a signature?

No it's the image beside your name when you send an email. Mine has a totally random letter and I can't seem to find a way to change it. ( Usually you'll see your initials or an image you set and when you send or reply to an eMail this is the little image that appears. )

Oh, that depends on the Google account contacts. If you have someone's email saved in Google contacts with a custom photo, then when they send you an email that photo will show up in the circle thumnail. And the same vice versa.

Without an email saved in the Google contacts, or a photo attached to the contact, it just shows the letters to make it easier to spot an email.

I said as well as others when you was looking to switch that if your unsure you should stay with iOS. If you don’t want to have tons of features and don’t plan on using any then stick to iphones.

I made the switch as I was bored to tears with iPhones and I know what I was getting into and I use tons of the features because that was what I wanted.

I suggest you just go get an 8 plus as I’ve read a lot of doubts with you about your note 8 and how you prefer Apple.

Seems the letters have no rhyme or reason as it's not initials.

Really contemplating on it... did they ever fix the Apple music and merge/replace disaster ?

It starts with the sender's email alias. Like if I get an email from Discover Card, there will be a "D", and Apple email will have a "A".

Mine is a letter I, not any part of my name. My email address starts with that however....
