I'm holding out for a 12.9" with smaller bezels - ideally iPhone X-style, otherwise at least like the current iPP 10.5". More screen real estate would be awesome but I'll take the same size in a reduced footprint too.

Then :
- Force Touch - amazing how you get used to it.
- Face ID
- A better pencil with interchangeable (?) tips (I write with it and it is very hard on the glass and not very pleasant. toc toc toc toc toc)
- (Edited to add) : not very important but I would fall heads over heels for an iPad with the glass back and holding feel of the iPhone X.

And for the next iOS :

- Better multitasking (on iPP)
- Maybe gestures that are the same on both iPad and iPhone. I can't count the number of times I try to access the Control Center by sliding down like on my iPhone. Although I MUCH prefer the one on the iPad.

Good list. Pretty practical and realistic except for ... force touch. I LOVE it on my X and it’s part of my workaflow. It’s not a gentle tap though. It’s a pretty strong press and even supported by my hands behind the phone I sometimes mess it up.

Pressing a propped up iPad screen that hard is going to make it fall over I suppose there’s a use case if you’re holding it in your hands on a couch. Support from the back and press hard as usual.

An innovative solution here would be a new pencil with “right click support”. The right click would have different actions when it’s hobering in air (screen or and then screen off both different functions) and when it touching an icon in screen. They can build in force tough into this “pencil touching icon right click” action.

Let’s make the pencil and keyboard true smart accessories and increase “pro” cabalities of the iPad to justify its laptop replacement 1400 dollar price.

Nice. But I need to first get the iPad before taking a gamble on the KB. WWDC can't get here soon enough. Either we have something new, or I might just go with the current 12.9 for a year. Upgrade next year.

Something else came to mind. Zagg doesn't *usually* do this. Wonder if they know something on the inside. Clear out existing kb stock before a resized chassis comes out. Interesting.

Yes as predicted yearly, Apple gives retailers the green light about 30 days before street date of their new products. So retailers can clear existing inventory. 10.5” IPad Pros are $150 -$200 Off at B.B. and other retailers MacBooks and MacBook Pros $300+ Discounts And Accessories are Up to 50% Off.

New CoffeLake MBPs will be hard to pass up. Unless you want LPDDR4 Support And a New Keyboard design that doesn’t break in a year and hardware level Specret and Meltdown fixes. I’d say it’s a good time to buy a MBP

I’ll grab an A12X IPad Pro and that will keep me happy til 2019 Redesigned MBPs with Icelake and finally LPDDR4, and hopefully a new GPU solution.

Is this usually a sign that a new iPad might be coming out soon? Or could it be because of the Memorial Day holiday they are having cases on sale? Im hoping for a new iPad would buy one as soon as it was available :)

Don’t think we can cuss on this forum but “F if I know!” everyone’s just guessing at this point. I may just go offline until the 4th. My trip is so tight I doubt I’ll be able to get one in June. Only back home for a week. Soooo, I’ll wait it out till November even if it is released. Should be reviews accessories out by then and anyway I don’t really need it until December really. First time in my life I’m using my head when it comes to a shiny new toy.

I also think last year that Ming Chi Kuo person used to be able to post rumors about the iPad Pro but since he is no longer doing that I think that is why the rumors stopped

Well, that, and Apple threatening to throw people in jail and also blacklist them from all tech firms maaayyyyyy induce people to be a bit silent. ‍♂️

I’d like to see the 12.9 lose its bezels. That would make it easier to carry. It’s not really an issue as is but smaller with the same screen size would be great in my opinion.

I use my iPad mostly in landscape so I’d like to see the camera moved or added for better usage in that orientation. I do a lot of online teaching so being able to look straight ahead at the iPad would be a welcomed experience.

I would also like to see Face ID.

As for as accessories go, I’d like to have a backlit keyboard.

anyone suggest a good note taking app for a student about to start college? He has a Windows PC at home in his room.

Honestly i´m waiting for my yearly bonus to buy one; if rumors of a new one intensify around then or if a new model is released shortly after I´ll bite. I want to upgrade from my 2011 16gig ipad 2which now is only used as a ereader. I´ll wait so that my investment lasts longer.

What would i like to see? Hmm. Okay, I’ll have some fun here. I’d like to see 3 new bezel-less ipad pros announced. The new 10.5” & 12.9” alongside an ipad pro mini. Probably not gonna happen. But i hope at least they release a new ipad mini with apple pencil support with the new pros. If Apple doesn’t update the mini this fall, i think it’s safe to assume they never will.

I’d also like to see a new Apple pencil. One with a magnet that attaches to the ipad pros smart connector to charge. That’d be so cool...and very handy. No more apple pencil sticking awkwardly out of the lightning connector! I think that would be a very helpful design change.

Other than that, i embrace the idea of the bezel-less ipad with no home button design, and face ID. My only question is will they keep the same physical size and just enlarge the screens of the current 10.5” & 12.9” ipad pros? Or will they shrink the physical size by keeping the current screen size but removing the bezels? Hmm.

I guess it makes sense for Apple to do do the former. That way the current smartcovers will still work with the new ipad pros. But personally, i’d rather they shrink the overall physical size of the current ipad pros by removing the bezels and keeping the same screen sizes. Especially if they don’t plan to offer a new mini. I’d rather they be more portable. But thats me.

Lastly, i’d like to see OLED screens on the new ipad pros, but from all indications, that won’t happen for at least another year or so.

Oh, one more thing...i’d like to see the same waterproofing Apple uses in the iphones to make it to the new pros. I travel a lot, and a more durable ipad would be very much appreciated.

I’m not waiting for one, I bought the gen 2 12.9 when it came out and have been very happy with it. What would make me buy a new one?
1. OLED display. It really is gorgeous on the iPhone X
2. FaceID
3. Reduced but not eliminated bezels allowing for a slightly larger display. I’m good with the size. If I wanted a smaller one I’d get a 10.5.
4. Gesture workflow from iPhone X

In all honesty, an OLED display alone would get me to upgrade. The other features without that probably wouldn’t.

That smart keyboard may be light and convenient but it's bollocks to type on.

For you, maybe, but everyone who's considering getting the ASK needs to try it for themselves.

I was skeptical when I went to the Apple Store to look at the iPP 9.7, but it didn't take but a few seconds of typing on the ASK for me to be sold. I have been using small computers for decades and have dealt with all sorts of oddball keyboards, including one on a computer imported directly from Japan that had a non-standard layout for symbols over the number keys. For me, the ASK (both 9.7 and 10.5) are among the best non-desktop keyboards I have ever used. I'm just about as fast on them as I am on my desktop's keyboard.

Keyboards are very much a matter of personal preference. I like the compact footprint of the iPP with the ASK, the compactness of the iPP/ASK combo as compared to my Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 (never mind a laptop), and the fact that I don't have to charge it. However, others have different wants/needs so other keyboards are better choices for them.

We‘ll quote you for a prediction for an iPad Pro launch in less than a month then. Probably without the headphone jack as you kept stating as fact last year - until it didn‘t happen.

I never understood the argument against a bezel-less design. I have big hands, and i’ve never needed bezels to hold my ipad. I dont know how y’all are holding yours, but when i hold my ipad, either in landscape or portrait, i simply press my palms into the side of the ipad to support it. My fingers never need to grip the bezels at all. I can type with my thumbs this way easily. So i don’t see how bezels are important at all. Even if some people may have a tendency to grab the edge of the ipad, Apple already has great palm rejection technology. You don’t think they could implement an equally great finger rejection tech along the edges? I just think it’s a silly arguement.

I have enough trouble with the palm rejection on the excessively large 2016 MBP trackpad that I am not that sure Apple would be able to get it work as expected. Holding the iPad with minimum bezels isn't really an issue about palm rejection but you would most likely hold your thumb over the screen edges.

I hold my iPad usually with thumb on the bezel and I think a lot of other people do too. Reducing the bezels to iPad 10.5 size would be fine.
