Ok, i wrote to Steve jobs e Mail address, complaining about my macbooks defects, about 5 days ago, telling him his QC needed work, so today got a call from Steve Jobs Office telling me they are sorry about my issues, we talked for about 30 minutes, Well the good part is now they are sending me a 17" macbook Pro for free........Yea hoooo!!!!

Remember I had 4 bad macs :(

Forgive me for asking, I don't know if you have posted about your mac issues but the original 4 you had, were they also 17" MacBook Pro's? Or are they offering it to you for your trouble?

Either way, congrats on your new mac, hope it works.
 
The three macbooks were all having issues, and so did my 24"imac so they asked me what i would like , I said 17" pro and they agreed, I have sold all the macbooks, so they will send me a special 17 macbook pro..... I am happy i sent the email, and such a quick repley ......yes they said special......

You probably got Santa Rosa in it or they maxed it out for you.

Either I'm glad you got Steve Jobs assistants to respond to you.
 
They're doing all they can to get rid of the old MBP stock before the refresh comes in June.

Oops, did I say that out loud? :)
 
I used to work for a place that would always give the customer the world if they sent a complaint in at the corprate level. It was sad allot of times because they usualy didn't deserve it.
 
Same thing happened to me - after numerous faulty macbooks and macbook pros Steve's minions simply gave me a macbook pro 17" as a replacement for a 2.16 mbp 15". I wrote to Steve, got a response and then the new machine was offered.

Having said that, I don't think it was a great solution. I mean I never wanted a 17" because it felt too big - I wanted a 15" MBP. And, I later sold the 17" because of the size and am now on yet another macbook that is having case issues.... the 17" MBP was probably the best laptop I've used, but it was too cumbersome for me to carry around...

Why didn't you get another 15"? Was it because that's the model you'd had trouble with?
 
You know, this really speaks volumes about Apple's willingness to maintain their image over other manufacturers.

Come to think of it, I think I'll write him a letter about the issues I've had with my MBP. Faulty Superdrive, speakers and fan and missing parts in the box. Plus, they had the incorrect purchase date on file, resulting in only about 6 months warranty coverage for me. Since it was a refurb, I suspect the date they had on file was the date the original owner purchased the machine.

Not that I'm expecting any favors or anything. Their QC in my particular case left a lot to be desired. But it all worked out nonetheless, so I'm happy.
 
I was happy with all my ibooks, powerbooks etc..... but 4???
Something is lacking, and I am happy they are going to send me a free one.... I would have never thought they would, But i am happy!

Yeah, they tried replacing the display several times but as many of us know there are almost no good displays out there for this model (uneven backlight, grain etc) so they couldn't give me a good 15"MBP. Instead they gave me the 17".

Well, if you want a 15" MBP with a good screen, I'll trade with ya. :D
