I've never used a case, and never used a screen protector. After each year my phone appears used but never totally messed up. If it ever gets bad or I crack the display, $29 repair for the screen or $99 entire device replacement through Applecare is much more valuable to me than wearing a piece of plastic over the device and another piece of plastic or glass over the display.

The iPhone Upgrade program will take a scratched and scuffed device back as long as the screen and back glass aren't cracked. If they are, $29 or $99 when you trade it in and you're good to go.

I just see this thing as a device I use a hundred times a day worthy of a bit of a premium - I may as well enjoy it and pay a little more if it gets damaged.

I don't really use that phone except for specific things now. If I reply to an email on my iPhone it's usually from my primary phone. I just have some of my accounts linked on my old phones so I can still use them to send an email if I need/want to.

Text messages are being reflected between my iPhone 11 Pro Max, my iPhone 6s+, my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 4s. Throw in my iPad and my MacPro and my MBP as well.

So, if I don't open my messages on that device it doesn't necessarily show that they've been read.

So…uhm yeah. Here's my primary phone, my 11 Pro Max.

My iPhone 5 doesn't look so bad now does it? :D
Haha no it doesn’t. The stress this causes me lol

You crazy! ;)

I've always had a case of some sort on my phones. Typically had screen protectors too. This year was the first time I didn't get a screen protector. And my iPhone Mini's screen is just fine still. Still intact and no scratches. Though I am careful where I put it though. Always in a pocket that doesn't have anything that could scratch the screen.

So I think I will go without a screen protector again on my next phone.

I never used a case or screen protector. I tried it once, and it was very annoying. Much more annyoing than a scratch ever could be.

Why not disabling the number badge for those apps that won't ever go to zero?

Why not disabling the number badge for those apps that won't ever go to zero?
Two reasons.

1. I didn't think about it. I got started with earlier versions of iOS where you needed a jailbreak to shut off the badge.

2. I didn't (don't) care enough to track down how I'd do that in modern iOS.

I might do this at some point, but really, I hardly notice the badge. The only one I really pay attention to is Messages.

I actually used to ride my bike for years as a kid without a helmet;)
I got my bike stuck in the mud somewhere in a construction zone for new housing development as a kid - and couldn't get it unstuck for quite a while. This was a mile or so from home when out riding as a kid. Your parents saw you in the morning and simply expected you back by dusk.

I was probably seven or eight, so 1978 probably. And yeah, no helmet either.

We used to lay a plank against some concrete blocks on the sidewalk in front of the house. That was our ramp to launch ourselves (and our bikes into the air). You learn what endoing is real fast. :D

Yeah…again, no helmets.

There are two ways:
1. Settings App - Notifications - Mail (or whatever app you want) -> there you go.

I'm not an iPhone user but my wife is, thats why I come here for knowledge. But on the subject of cases I've always kept my Note phones, currently a Note 20 ultra 5g, in an OtterBox Defender Series case. Pretty much the best and most durable case in my opinion. And I'm terrified of going without a case. But I've broke, cracked or destroyed several phones... And every one was in a case. Ironic lol.

Didn't know the word "endoing", checked web translators, word not found.
Still don't know what endoing is.
It's probably not a word you'd find in any dictionary, but those who ride bikes or motorcycles know what it means. It means to land on your front tire first.

That's kind of a bad thing because you steer and control the bike/motorcycle using the front wheel. If it deflects in any way on landing you're going to crash. Those who get more experience at jumping bikes and motorcycles learn to pull up when they jump. So you land either even (both wheels) or on the rear wheel first.

So endoing is what people who have no idea about bikes do when making a jump. It's just natural to let the front drop first and land on it.
