Lagging pretty bad, all settings are on low & 800x600...
Got bootcamp under Windows XP Professional

iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro

Any ideas in how to improve the games settings?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I tried most of the stuff written in this topic. The only settings which make the game at least playable is with 800x600 , AA x 16 and everything else either low or off. But there still are some laggs, especially at the beginning of a mission..

Try turning "Sync Every Frame" off. That made a huge difference for me. And make sure you have the latest patch installed.

That was the first thing I turned off, only made a slight difference though.
I got the game from steam, shouldn't the latest patch be installed already after the download & installation?

Woah, you're trying to run it with AA at x16? Turn it down! Take it right down as low as 2x or 4x - that is what is massacring your GPU.

Yeah. Shadows and AA are the normal killer culprits, after the normal stuff like resolution, texture sizes and details.

One tip on older machines is to turn everything off, and check your frames. If they are still bad it can point to either the PC/Mac not being powerful enough, or perhaps another problem with the code or device that can be worth googling.

Good luck!

No problem. I have been playing with native res a bit and uploaded this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTX87OLL1C4

FRAPS half scaled to 720p, max 30fps.

Jungle scene benchmarks:
2560 x 1440 Max settings, Except with AA OFF /ansio down to low = 40-50fps
2560 x 1440 Max settings, with AA 2x and max ansio = 30-40 fps
2560 x 1440 Max settings, with AA 4x and max ansio = 25-30 fps

Cheers

Wow!! Not bad at all!

I didn't buy my iMac to do any gaming in particular, but you've convinced me to try.

Maybe you should read their specs. Only Mac Pro and those with high end hardware use high AA.

Turn AA off.

I kick arse on Team Fortress 2. Typically top 3 score on servers with 24 to 32 players, often top score.

Folks learned to fear the iPod ear buds! (Limited edition item only for mac users).

Neither did I, but the Overclocking thread peaked my interest. I've been a PC gamer from Wolfenstein to BF2, then dropped it for consoles the past 5 years.

I bought the 27" for film editing, and then was amazed at the games performance, especially at 1080p where most things (Including crysis) are superb.

I have setup the youtube channel to just collect some benchmarks and games videos for casual gamers who maybe didn't realise that the mobility 5800 series can actually play a fair number of games at good speeds. It is very nice to hear you are going to give it a try.

The game that I like the best is Half Life 2, EP1 and EP2 with "Fake Factory 10" from www.cinematicmod.com

An old game, sure. But wow!!!!

Good luck with your gaming.
