That's interesting. I actually saw it was available to download in my Steam account a few days ago while in OS X and I just thought it must have always been available.

This happens a lot. Games will appear in your Steam library, but it could be weeks, months, or, in a few select cases never, before it actually is available for play on OS X.

Bought MW2 on Steam for bootcamp a few months back.
have now downloaded the Mac version.
The sound seems much better on the Mac version, or am I imagining it?

We didnt mess with the audio files that I know of. I wonder if how the OS processes those files differently is what you are hearing. I've thought for years that audio played on OSX vs PC was better, but had no real evidence to support. :apple:

This game doesn't support the xbox 360 game pad, what a bummer :( was just going to buy the game but i prefer the joypad, all said & done feral has gamepad support in all their games.

There was no gamepad support in the PC version either. One very good reason is the player performance disparity between gamepad and keyboard/mouse in multiplayer. Remember, both games are fully cross-platform...so if you jumped into a match and your the only player with a gamepad...

agreed but i m coming from console gaming & just love the xbox360 gamepad, most of windows games support the xbox360 gamepad for windows, fps can be fun with a gamepad also & most of the mac gamers here are casual-hardcore, i m sure all aren't hardcore gamers sitting in a room dimly lit with gaming headphones & gaming mouses & stuff, hope you get my point, just giving suggestions thats all.

How's the multiplayer on MW2 in terms of the number of people on there? Is it easy to get into each type of match?

Also how is the hacking? I still play it on PS3 occasionally but hackers ruin about half of the matches.

If you want to play anything else that popular game types your out of luck.
I've seen a few hackers with wallhack + aimbot. They are not in every game but you can see them quite often,

How should a 2.7 2012 'classic' MacBook Pro run both MW2 and MW3?

SSD OS drive
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

I've seen someone post that it gets really hot and stops working...

MW1, wargame airland battle and Starcraft 2 all work pretty well on it.

Thanks!

As for the multi player in CODMW2
The gameplay is better than MW1, better graphics, weapons etc.

BUT

it seriously marred by the lack of moderated servers.
it's everything you'd expect from an un policed environment. no control of weapons means endless tube/grenade launcher deaths. which are banned on most MW1 servers.

I could probably live with that if i didn't have to put up with the tedious text warriors calling everybody *********g noobs, *********g campers, gay campers. etc etc.
I know this is supposed to be par for the course on COD multiplayer but it a major turn off to anyone with a mental age above 13.

I think i'll stick to COD4.

You shouldnt have any issues with that setup. Give it a go!

Do Modern Warfare 2 and 3 support cross-platform Special Ops co-op play?
I'm on a Mac and want to know if I can play co-op with my friend who is on Windows.

Spec Ops was the only thing we couldnt get cross-platform. We spent months on it, but Spec Ops has syncing issues even between PC-PC, so it was a battle we couldnt win.

If you're on a MacBook Pro, its built-in speakers sound notably worse in Windows than in OS X. It's most likely a driver issue because Apple is seemingly the only company to use the particular sound chip found in the MBP. As such, they're the only ones who have released drivers for it, and the company is not inclined to release such updates unless absolutely necessary.

For MW3, are there cheats for the single player version?

I have more fun shooting people and being invincible and I don't do online. Just curious, I know with Windows you have to download a trainer. Just curious about the mac version

.

40 bucks is still too much for a game thats been out for 2 or 3 yrs . i will wait for the price to go down ..anyways i've played it on pc :D

It costs a lot of money to produce a quality port of a game for the Mac and because of that you can't compare the price of an old Windows release to a new Mac release of the same game. There was significant added cost to bring that game to us on OS X, thus the higher launch price.

That said, not long ago this recent release was on sale for 50% off already.

So quality native ports do cost more many times but I think a lot of us feel they are well worth it, to own and play OS X versions of good games.

It's actually $39.99 on the PC ;)

All of our titles are at price parity with their PC counterparts with only a few exceptions.

I happily stand corrected. I should have added to my post that I do often see Mac titles going for the same as PC titles which is great considering the added costs in bringing us a Mac version. Come to think of it I have noticed that a lot lately. :D

That is just the price of Call of Duty games. Even the old ones are still pricey. And the new ones are just plain not worth it.
