It doesn't do that automatically. That's why I created AutoRingtone, in fact.

This looks interesting m8. OK before I dig deep in my pockets:D, just a few questions on your fantastic work. I'm not really interested in the ringtone part of thing the standard ringtone is fine for me, but what I'm looking for is something that when I receive a txt it say's similar to 'calltell' "text from daniel" and then it will proceed to read out the text, when I have an alert from 'Ebay' it will readout the alert, the same for other 3rd party apps like whatsapp, viber, when it say's who is calling it will continue to ring normally & no disco songs in the background :cool:so the name of the person and the message, all this while the phone is on lockscreen in my pocket whilst driving lets say.

First, I have free versions, so search for autoringtone or ringtones uncensored and try one with no obligation! Second, with iOS 5, you can have custom alerts (such as those created by my app) for text messages, email, etc. It cannot, however dynamically speak the contents of the message. But the Siri commercials indicate that is possible, if you ask her nicely!

Mine isnt working!! I have iOS 5.0.1 jailbroken.
i have 4.0. Is it conflicting with any other tweaks?
I uninstalled CallBar already.

Yes, but Jailbreaking is required!

I.m not sure if you realize that this is the Iphone hack section. Most of us are jailbroken or at least thinking about it. Your app is cool but simply not the same. Also you might do a better job promoting your app in Iphone IPad apps section https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/133/

hel22 I would email the dev maybe with a list of programs. Sometimes there is a conflict between programs. You can also try uninstalling callbar.if you find out what the conflict is again email the dev. So he can fix it.

I realize the section and you answered your own point... People reading this might NOT be jailbroken but thinking about it... As you wrote.

If an app (especially for free) does most of what they want, then they don't necessarily have to. Plus jb users can still buy apps from the app store... Whether they do is a separate question!

Also while the app doesnt do all that calltell does, it can do MORE/different things as it can say whatever you want... Users have created some really funny tones... 4.5 million so far!

My goal was to reply/inform in a relevant thread. My apps are doing fine but I appreciate it. Happy new year!

Call Tell is a very nice tweak, IMHO, and well worth the $2. I'd rather spend my $ on trying out apps than $4 burnt coffee anyways.

I've had both Call Tell and AutoRingTone for a couple of days now.

Call Tell reads me all my notification center alerts (appointments & reminders from Pocket Informant, for example). It says what app the alert is from, and then the contents of the alert. It also announces the phone number or Contacts entry of someone calling or texting, and then reads the text. Does this for the Phone/Messages/TextFree apps.

Just awesome.....

FWIW, I did buy and try the AutoRingTone Pro app....but....it's just not for me and the way I use custom ringtones currently.

Thanks for reviving an old thread!

Thanks! If you are already jailbroken, and have CallTell, sure, there's less need for AutoRingtone, but if your primary goal is to announce which contact is calling/texting, and jail breaking isn't attractive, AutoRingtone fits the bill. And there are free versions with iAds and a subset of voices/FX, so no need to break the bank!

When my phone is asleep and I get a text and it announces who it is, and what the msg is... but then the phone freezes and crashes... and reboots by itself

Calltell 4.0........ is making my ios 5.1.1 ( iphone 4s ) crash

Any solution to this problem :(

Swoosh @ Where can i get this from
I didnt find it in the App store

Any solution to my biteSMS popup... crashing prob ? :(

The best alternative to this, is ALOUD. Can read messages from BiteSMS and Whatsapp too. And many other apps too. Check it out.
