Apologies if this was already answered and I missed it, but I'm curious to know if a "sealed" 1G iPod means the actual box was sealed, or rather that the iPod within the box was sealed. I bought a 1G iPod back in 2001 (still have it, use it here and there; it works great, though I had to change the battery a while back). Shortly after, I received another 1G. Meant to give it away, but ended up just sticking it in my closet and forgetting about it. Until recently. I noticed that the box itself is not sealed (it's a rather elaborate affair, unlike the new iPod boxes; opens up into separate compartments for iPod and accessories), but the iPod within it is. For the life of me, I can't recall if the box had come sealed and I unsealed it or if the boxes themselves weren't sealed to begin with. So, was just wondering how, exactly, these iPods shipped. I just don't remember either of my 1G iPods coming in a sealed box (and they both came directly from Apple, no one in between). But it's been a while and my memory isn't what it used to be.

The 1G iPod comes with the entire box sealed. I've only seen a couple with the original box sealed. Also, the iPod and all the accessories inside the box can also be sealed but the box is open. The former is obviously harder to find. If you have pics of the 1G ipod which you haven't used and still sealed internally, post some pics. I would be interested in seeing them.

The 1G is very hard to find sealed. For the moment, I only find an 3G and 4G brand new sealed.

So wait, let me get this right.

ijhaddish, a newbie, is willing to pay $1400 for a sealed 1st gen ipod, and went from an already overpriced $350 to $450 to $650 for a sealed third gen?

Riiiiight, I'd be pretty skeptical.

I'm a serious buyer. If I see a product I need, I will buy it. As long as I see the price is fit from my perspective. I bought a sealed U2 iPod for $600, so I figure $650 is a reasonable price for this iPod. As for the sealed 1st gen ipod, I'm willing to negotiate up to a certain point.

I don't have pics, but here's a list of all the sealed iPods I own:
iPod 3G 20GB
iPod Mini 1G 4GB
iPod 4G 20GB
iPod U2 20GB
iPod Photo 40GB
iPod Shuffle 1G 512MB
iPod Mini 2G 4GB
iPod Nano 1G 2GB
iPod Nano 1G 1GB
iPod 5G 60GB
iPod Nano 2G 2GB
iPod 5.5G 30GB
iPod Shuffle 2G 1GB
iPod Nano 3G 4GB
iPod Classic 80 GB
iPod Touch 1G 8GB
iPod Shuffle 2.5G 2GB
iPod Nano 4G 16GB
iPod Touch 2G 16GB
iPod Classic 120GB
All the current models as well

The reason I want the iPod 3G 15GB is that it was one of the original 3G's. Once again, I am a serious buyer. If you don't trust me, put the iPod on eBay with a reserve of $650 and I will place a bid of $650.
