available to sign up for?

I bought my iPad yesterday at the Apple Store. Somebody made a thread today saying they bought theirs from Best Buy today and signed up for Unlimited.

Q: "Why don't you turn it on and check yourself?"
A: It's still in the box shrinkwrapped. I am not opening mine until I have a good case for it. Sorry I like to keep my $900 gadgets in good condition.

I'm thinking all iPads that were in retail stock BEFORE the Limited Data was announced, will be able to have Unlimited. Therefore, all iPads manufactured after June 7th, will be not Unlimited.

Anybody confirm this?

You are not opening it until you get a case?

I find that very strange. You are an adult aren't you? Don't you trust yourself at all?

You do realize a case is just an object made of things you can find in your home right now, right? Make your own case. You'll be fine. It's not a rare treasure. It's an electronic device. There are well over a million of them out there.

Open it. And check yourself.

U know it comes in a plastic wrapping right? Ur a bit OCD.

This is getting tiresome. Why don't you open the box, check for yourself, activate your unlimited plan, and put the iPad back in the box until you get your case?

Touching your iPad won't hurt it!

Yes, I can confirm that it is still available as of 10:52pm pacific time.

But as others have said, why not open it, activate it and put it back in the box? Seriously.

Next problem will be:

I have a iPad in a box. I have a case. How do I get the iPad into the case without exposing it to the outside world? That's gonna be a hard problem.

Until Apple starts selling iPad already in a case. But then you wonder, how long has it been outside the case in the factory? You never know what has happened in between...

STOP BEING MEAN TO ME!!!!!!!! I just ask simple question. y or n

Several members here are trying to help so let me give it a shot.

Yes, the unlimited plan is still available, but not advertised on the website. If you have an ipad in your hand - don't wait any longer...activate it now!!!

Until you can get a case, I would recommend some type of invisible shield or some covering and then a net book neoprene sleeve until you can find a case you like. I hear your desire to want to keep your iPad pristine so maybe just use it at home until you have a good case and bag. (Waterfield makes amazing products)

Good luck and trust us - we're not trying to steer you wrong, despite some of the less than patient comments here.

Surely if it came in a case directly from Apple, Mr. XciteBike would need a case for his case. What does he do then?

I'm the same way as you. Just keep the film covering the ipad until you get a skin tomorrow. At least, that's what I'm going to do with my brandnew toy.

I used mine for three weeks before I got my case, and it was fine. They are really very durable. However, you can always go on ebay and buy a cheap skin to use for now. Why wait to have fun? And you can activate your 3G, too.

much humor will be enjoyed when the OP gets his case and attempts to sign up for unlimited to realize it is no longer available, however his iPad won't have any dust on it.

XciteMe, listen, you only have a limited window of opportunity to sign up for unlimited 3G. If you are serious about wanting it, you need to activate it NOW.

The iPad comes wrapped in a clear covering that can be opened and resealed. You will need to open it long enough to hook up the iPad to your computer to register with iTunes. Then you can seal it back up.

Seriously, activate it now!

Maybe he can cut a hole in the front of the box and use the box as a case?

I didn't open my iPad until my screen protector came in... I'd prly do what people said and open and activate it..you can leave the protective plastic on...sign up for data and then put it back in your box if you want.

I heard the apple case caused scratches...is that a falsehood?

Just adding to the chorus about the need to activate it now. AT&T obviously has been particularly unpredictable and untrustworthy regarding iPad data plans. So take it out of the box, set up your unlimited plan, and put it back in the box until you get your case - if that makes you feel more comfortable.

I bought a 32 GB iPad 3G at best buy 2 hrs ago and I was still offered unlimited 3G data plan for $30.
