Here You can see the complete problem. Editing 4k60 H264 without proxy IMPOSSIBLE! The same problem, but I have got to stop all in FCPX a lot. IS IT NORMAL?

How can I make it smoothly? Please

I just did a quick test on my cMP (spec as per my signature).

Open project in FCPX, 4K, 60FPS. No Proxy, no optimised media, no background rendering, etc.

Drag two 1080P H264 videos onto the timeline, apply filter, play the timeline.

It seems OK with my Radeon VII. Is this test good enough for you?

If this is pretty much what you did (and and have issues) on the 7,1. Then Radeon VII should be good enough (if the problem is really from the 580X).

However, I still highly recommend you double check if your FCPX settings are identical on the 7,1 and your iMac. Just in case you spotted any difference which may be the problem.

Yeah, it would need to be in ProRes.
If I understand correctly, OP has no problem to edit ProRes (after render).

He don't want to spend time on rendering, he want to edit H264 directly, but somehow the 580X seems not good enough for that after applying some filters with multiple streams.

Thank you so much everyone. you are of great help. I have bought the radeon VII and next week it will come home. When I install it I will try how far I can get with it.

I'm sorry not to be able to help you. My company machine has the afterburner so just using the current configuration would be confounded results. And the machine is always busy with film editing so I can't take it out. Good luck!
