Can I use my dad's military discount?

My dad is a veteran of the US Marines, but is currently away. I was wondering if I could present my military I.D. to the Apple store in order to receive the government discount. (?)

According to this, http://www.apple.com/r/store/government/fedepppolicies.html , a member of the government can "sponsor" family purchases. If he is away, and I show a military I.D, can I get the discount?

On ways to utilize it? Lol.

So far, I can get $2 off each game of bowling and a dollar off my movies, lol. I was originally planning to use that student discount, but I'm still in highschool, arg! However, my highschool ID just has my picture, so maybe I can get away with it. However, I'd much rather just use a legit government discount.

The discount is only open to Uni students. You can be a k-12 teacher and get it, but not a k-12 student.

Since you're in a military family, try using the military ID in-store. Call before you head out, just to make sure.
Clerks'll let you get away with stuff. :)

he has to order it for you if you do it online.
 
There is no "highschool discount." Only College. It's stupid, because I'm gonna be a senior this year, but I want my computer now. I could always order online, because it is VERY unlikely they would ever check me out, however, it's both dishonest and I wouldn't get the instant gratification of buying it instore.

I figure they'd have to give me the military discount if my dad isn't here to sponsor me. It's the American thing to do, lol. :p I mean, I have the military ID with a picture of me, so..yeah..

You can alway call and check yourself, i would not call the local store if i was in your place. Calling a store that is far away would be a better option.

If you've been accepted to college, that would count. It makes sense, because they only get the tax benefits for teachers and college students. Well, and government and a few businesses they have agreements with. Not to mention all the people who would just bring their kids with them to get the discount because almost all kids are in school. ;)

Use it online because it counts (you can just fax a copy of the ID to them if they ask) if the person at the Apple Store won't give it to you.
 
since this is related. Would my dad be able to use his military discount and teacher discount on a purchase? And if he could, how much off would that be?
 
Nope I have a friend who lets me use her discount she works for apple. :)

I wasn't aware of a military discount? I knew they did things for educators and college students and government organizations, they also do them for military? I hope so- they need as many perks as they can get. Even the children of someone in the military should be able to benefit from the perks.

I woudl do the online thing then have your dad pay for it and no issues there.
 
I personally think it is quite dumb to let only the Uni students get the discounts. We have money too, lol. I was looking forward to a MacBook pro + free ipod, oh well.

what I meant by government was government orgs for use within the org. Sort of like the school discount I get when I buy Mac's for my school for use within the school or paid for by the school. By listing military I mean military personnel for personal use (ie. teacher personal use).

Yeah, I suppose I could just do it online, since I don't know either way. Then, if they gave me a problem, I could probably just make a lot of fuss and probably get my way :p . However, I really wanted to pick it up tommorrow, since the nearest Apple store is an hour away, and my mom happens to be heading out that way. I guess I'll just try, and if it does work, great (!), if not, that's fine, too.
 
Yeah, I got my computer through a government discount. My father works for the local Sherrif's Department so he purchased it with proof that he was from the state govt. Of course, I could have recieved the student discount but you cannot buy the ACPP in Florida unless you are business or government, so that is why we went that route. Same discount as the education store though.
 
can you use your FBI badge to get a discount? i just watched "miss congenuiality" yesterday, watching sandra use her badge to cut in a long line in starbucks :)

Yes, but unlike Sandy, in this case it would actually be legal. You would get the federal employee discount as you would if you worked for the postal service or have a valid military ID. Law enforcement can't cut in line, but then again who's going to stop them. :p
 
Of course you can use the Military Discount!

I have been using it for years. The military IS a Federal Government agency, thus it qualifies. According to Apple's policy, purchases at the discount may be made for family members and friends. However it does state that the member is to make the purchase.

As a side note.. I have used this for over 10 years with the On-LINE store. And so have all my military co-workers. And in all that time, I have never heard of Apple ever checking ID cards. Maybe if you go to an Apple store in person, but never on-line. I'm not telling you to lie, it's just that your INTENT would be honerable, since you are in fact entitled to the discount through your dad. If you really need to buy in person, I would talk to the store and see what they will do. I bet they want the sale, and will take your military ID card without a question. My wife has used her Depemdent Spouse card that way at an Apple store in Washington DC, when I was away.

To find the Gov store on-line, go to the Apple Store and scroll down to the selection for OTHER APPLE STORES WORLDWIDE. From here you will find US Government.

The Federal Government Employee Purchase Program (EPP) is a benefit provided by Apple Computer, Inc. ("Apple"), to employees and contractors. The program is intended for personal use or for the use of family members and friends.

By submitting your order, you certify that you have read and understand the terms and conditions of the Federal EPP policy and confirm that you are an employee of an agency to which Apple has offered this benefit.

PROGRAM OFFERING
Personal Discount: You may purchase or "sponsor" up to six system bundles each calendar year (January 1-December 31). "Sponsoring" means placing an order for a family member or friend. No more than two systems or monitors may be shipped each calendar year to the same individual or entity (i.e., company, institution, club or group), whether that purchase is sponsored solely by you or, also, by other eligible employees. You may not sponsor the purchase of products by any educational institution. A system bundle includes, and is limited to, one CPU, one display (built-in displays count as one display), one AirPort card and one Airport Base station. You do not need to purchase all components of a system bundle at the same time to qualify for the discount.
