Yes,

But the thing is that I have been playing around with it for hours now...

This issue is so complicated .... I am able to play some movies (directly by double click from finder) but some others no .. no matter what the file format is ...

and the same goes for other files ... do you have any ideas ?

Thank you for your reply,

But this is not about the TM ... This is about the HDDs connected to Airport Extreme .. After the latest firmware updates I am not able to access to some files located on the HDDs connected to my AE ..

TM is fine

Thank you for your reply,

It does not matter if you have Time Capsule or Airport Extreme, I have both and both are the same.

Again my problem has nothing to do with Time Machine backups, my backups are just fine.

The problem is when you connect an external HDD to your Time Capsule OR Airport Extreme, and try to use it as a network drive. In this case you would have weird issues with files located on that HDD.

:)

Test with the third party application "Auto Mounter" https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/automounter/id1160435653?mt=12

I seem to have solved the problem temporarily.
smb:// did not help me because it is 50% slower than for AFP when copying large amounts of data. Or files that weigh more than 4GB.

Now you can try using the shortcut directly without buying the application.
Cmd+K afp://name time capsule.local/name internal disk
in my case.. afp://Time-Capsule.local/AirPort Disk

Thank you very much ...

But do you think if it will be solved in upcoming updates ?

let's hope so.
Clearly is a bug in OS Sierra and does not leave indifferent to any NAS or TC included networks between macs.

I personally downgrade to OSX El Capitan for this same problem between my home network with a macbook pro and a macpro 2010.

But you know this is so strange, because of two reasons, first is that before upgrading to Airport 7.7.8 everything thing was fine.

And the second is that the behaviors between my two Airport Ext. with HDDs connected to it and my other Brand New TimeCapsule and its default HDD is so different. In first one the newly downloaded files like *.pdf, *,mp4 and so on are working just fine but in my TimeCapsule nothing is fine ... !!

Fingers Crossed for the next update ...

Oh and by the way... Happy New Year :)

Hello,

I have tested it on 3 different machines and 3 different devices, two Airport Extremes (2013) and One Time Capsule (2013).

If you update your Airport Firmware to 7.7.8, you would not be able to access your files directly from finder in your Mac Sierra (10.12.2) .

Apple has messed up something either in this firmware or 10.12.2 macOS update.
It's macOS problem afaik. I have updated my ApEx to the newest software on El Capitan and everything work fine, as it should... I had problems only on Sierra so I downgraded to El Capitan right after discovering this bug. It's essential functionality for me.

I advise you do the same :)
