Can regular bands be used on Apple Watch Sport, Edition, Vice Versa

So far I like the regular Apple Watch 42mm Space Black Stainless Steel Case. I'd want at the least the Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet and the Black Sport Band.

But I wonder if the Apple Watch Sport has advantages over the regular, could I order it with the Black Sport Band and then buy the regular Space Black Stainless Steel Case and use it with the Sport watch?

As far as I can tell, any band will work with any watch (assuming it is the correct size - small or large). The difference in the collections appears to be the materials used on the housing of the watch.

Apple wants you to buy as many of the bands as you want. It doesn't make sense for them to create unnecessary barriers and confusion by making certain bands only work with certain watches. Instead, just price them accordingly.
