Update:

My Series 4 / 44mm Space Black came in on Monday. I took a few comparison pictures with my Series 2 / 42mm Space Black and my new Series 4 before I sell the Series 2.

I tested with the sport strap that came with my Series 2 watch and my Nomad strap that I have been using since I bought the Series 2.

I agree with the original articles, the previous straps perfectly fit with the Series 4 watch.

I am very impressed with Apple's Space Black finish and the Sapphire face, my Series 2 watch still looks brand new.

Notes to mention:

The Series 2 Stainless watch came with a square storage case but the Series 4 Stainless watch did not come with any sort of storage case. It is more expensive with the Cell & EKG features without the case. Oh well, I never used the storage case for my Series 2 anyway.

Authentic Apple bands (Sport, Sport Loop and Nylon) all work perfectly. 3rd party sport bands work on AW 4 just as they did on AW 2 and are the least finicky to attach to AW 4.

I have some other 3rd party bands which seem to only want to go in from one side of AW4 but if memory serves me, that was the way AW 2 was at first and as time went by, I could get them in from either side.

I've tested a Spigen Milanese Loop, a metal link bracelet from ***** and a couple of leather bands from FFF. All fit but require a little more effort than my AW 2.

Yes, I agree that some of my 3rd party straps for my Series 2 were a bit finicky but not bad, they worked fine but easier to attach from one side. Once they were attached, they were solidly connected. I have 6 straps and I could not justify to buy extras from Apple given that their prices are a bit high. I have been happy with my Nomad strap because it is very comfortable and it matches well.

edit:

We may not have read the instructions... The straps are removed and attached from 1 side according to the image that comes with the S4. :D

They snap in but the S1-3 woven nylon and sport loops have a gap at the connector. Small but enough to be annoying. They fixed it on the S4 sport loop obviously

I had problems connecting my third party link bracelet in the store too.
It fitted the aluminum watch perfect but not the SS watch.
Anybody found a solution for it?

All my original bands fit perfect (have a lot) but a set of steel 3rd party adapters I bought for a leather strap is VERY tight now... I can get it on okay easily, but a bit tough to get off... Actually to the point that I think I need to replace them... But how do I know I don't get a new set with same issues with 44mm S4?

Seems like nearly all special formed band connectors does not fit. The one which look like apples original leather band ones should fit.
What I noticed too: on the aluminum most bands work, but with the ss watch not.
