When you have a wifi connection then you have internet, you don't need it on your phone plan. Over wifi you can use Cydia, Safari etc

You should only use 2.2.1 if it is a custom firmware file that has been made with Pwnage tool to retain the old baseband, otherwise you will lock your phone. You are safe staying with 2.2.0.

oh ok....i don't have mac i have a pc....and for my understanding pwnage in only for mac user.....that's why i'm stuck:(

another thing "pc guru" i don't have internet in my plan....i just added and won't be effective until march for my next bill....i have from tmobile one of dose plan that i pay us i go...no contract and i love it....i don't know why cydia, installer and wi-fi were working.

currently i won't be able to do anything cuz cydia and intaller don't work cuz claro i don't have internet......so i will wait next month to tryit again...jailbreak and unlock.

but please let know with one i shoulded have use the one in red o the one in purple. i use the one in red.

thank you so much i realy appreciate all of your help.

If you want to jailbreak AND unlock then you should use "iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw", the one in pink. Pwnage Tool is only available for Mac, not PC. So you will have to use QuickPwn for PC and restore with the 2.2 (iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw) so you can unlock.

All David says is correct but I don't understand why you have twice got the unlocked phone working on T-Mob, only for it to stop working a day or two later. I have not heard of that before in the same way.

Maybe you do have a hardware fault. It seems to me you have already done everything right to get it working.

Only other thing I can think of, as you are losing phone-call capability, is that the baseband is corrupt. I do not know how you test or fix that, but maybe other people here can help.

That's exactly what I was thinking and what confuses me. Unless T-Mobile is disconnecting your service after they realize something after two days, I can't think of anything.

i don't know what alse to do.....when i call customer service to setup internet i told the guy that i have an iphone and he just laugh...the wi-fi said no internet conecction and when i go to cydia it says the same thing..is there anything alse i can do.....cuz for what i see i will have to restore and jailbreak for the 3th time.

Does your phone crash back to the Home screen when you attempt to go to the keypad to dial a number?

If so, sounds like a problem my friend experienced. He had the above, but could make calls from the Contacts screen - although once a call was initiated he was unable to end the call.

It was linked to him installing 'Kate' from Installer. If you have done this, remove this as well as the 'Ripdev' components from installer, reboot and hopefully this should fix it.

hi, i do have the same problem i try to call from my contact and i could't hangup....i uninstall kate and that did't help.......i don't know where ripdev is.

Its definately the same problem, and definately fixable so dont panic.

So you have uninstalled Kate, RipDev should be a package listed that you can remove from Installer - is it not there?

Also look for 'MobileEnhancer' in Installer and remove that - thats linked to Kate also.

Have a look and post back, here are the instructions I used:

1- Uninstall Kate from Installer

2- Then go to Installer again and uninstall these apps:

A) Mobile enhancer
B) RIP DEV preferences

3- Reboot your iPhone.

This is starting to smell like trolling / timewasting to me. Someone can really do all you have done and not know what the wifi symbol is?

Let's see, what silly question can I ask today to waste their time......

and thanks to all of the other people that try to help me....good luck guys:D

Not a problem, glad it worked!

Dont worry, I found people quite rude and unhelpful in this thread also, and knew when I read the problem you were having it was the same as what had happened to my friends iPhone.

In regards to the issue with Wifi, when you get an 'E' this represents that you are on an Edge data connection (over the cell network). Wifi is only available when your in range of a wireless access point.

If one isnt available for whatever reason your phone will attempt to obtain a 3G connection, then an Edge connection for data.
