Here is a link to an article on Github which was created by Amey Rupji Software Engineer Artist from
Austin, TX.

Thunderbolt Mac Pro Early 2009 with Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge Card
He documents step by step, with illustrations and in text how to flash the Titan Ridge card.
Excellent work!

This is link is to his Github page on which he is starting to document his experience with the ASUS ThunderboltEX 3, this is a work in progress.

[WIP] Thunderbolt Mac Pro Early 2009 with Asus Thunderbolt EX3

hey guys. I'm having trouble following his tutorial. A got a titan ridge. I flashed it correctly but in MacOS system report I don't get the same stuff that he does on PCI and thunderbolt. I have read a lot on the forums and it seems to be related to a thunderbolt aml acpi thing?

That is not mentioned anywhere on the tutorial and I seem to be missing that thunderbolt aml file on my open core config. Can anybody please help point me in the right direction? Thank you!

ps: I attached his system report from the tutorial and my system report that shows the names wrong.

what functions don't work without opencore? Also, what connectors on the back of the card need to be plugged in?

Hi Everyone,

I followed the steps and mine looks like this. Can you tell me if it's OK, please? I have nothing to test besides a USB typ3.1 adapter which I use with my YSB 3 stick. - It works.

There are many similar versions of this programmer available from China some that do not operate at 3.3V.
The specific model listed in the guide does not need to be modified. It has 3.3V/5V output capability which is controlled by a onboard jumper. See attached picture.

I thought so too, but after taking a look at the documentation from the manufacturer and doing a few test with a multimeter I found that the jumper do not change the output voltage. The jumper changes the operational mode of the device between programming and TTL mode. The output voltage remains the same with or without the jumper.

friends I need some help with this. so I got my titanridge from amazon. I flashed it. I installed opencore. But the issue is with my monitor LG ultrafine 5K. When I start from a cold boot. I get no brightness controls or speakers, or webcam. Now if I reboot that is supposed to work but instead a get a Black Screen on a warm boot.

I am not sure what else to try at this point. I know I flashed the card right. I did the verify command after flashing too. Opencore is working fine. I tried a vava thunderbolt usb-c hub and that works. Could it be somehow that my monitor thunderbolt cable is not good enough?

ps: I'm upgrading from an alpineridge card which works fine just for the thunderbolt 5k display, but no speakers, brightness, webcam, usb.
Once in a while my LG UltraFine 4K display will not turn on after booting. But it is quickly solved simply by unplugging and replugging the TB cable. After that the display turns on. Have you tried that?

It looks like you don't have the SSDT activated in OpenCore. If you did, the Titan Ridge card would not show as Vendor Name: GIGABYTE but as Apple and the port speed would show as 40Gb/s not 20Gb/s x2. You can run the card without OpenCore/SSDT but will loose some functionality.

Help,
I just flashed my version 1 card with the V2 software. I am running it on an x570 hackingtosh with a gigabyte master 1.1 motherboard.
It shows up nicely in the thunderbolt system, with my Samsung monitor. But when i disconnect the display port lead , it refuses to boot at all , it just hangs pre bios .
Anyone have any ideas ?

Has anyone successfully gotten it to work on Rev 2 cards? I’m having mixed results, and would like to compare notes.
