All things considered, reckon that seems fairly practical given the display size/resolution.

To be quite honest, I actually have split screen disabled because I keep accidentally bringing up the sidebar when simply scrolling and that was a major annoyance.

That doesn’t seem like a huge deal to me. Fair enough considering the hardware.

Do I regret buying the 9.7 IPP? No, because I bought it based on what I needed and it delivered really well for the one year i had it.

Do I feel that Apple shortchanged me with 2 GB RAM? Yes, because the larger pro already had 4 GB RAM then. But I already knew that before I bought the IPP. The features it offered back then made up for the lack of RAM. So yes, I'm happy with my 9.7 purchase and would still do it all over again. But that doesn't mean i agree with what Apple did.

To be fair, people who bought the 12.9 IPP then also felt shortchanged because of the new display tech when the 9.7 IPP came out.

Yup. Exactly. I often open a lot of Safari tabs so more RAM would definitely have been appreciated.

However, for my usage, the Pro 9.7 256GB LTE with warranty was a better upgrade over my iPad Air 16GB LTE than the iPad Air 2 128GB LTE for $200-300 less.

That said, I do wish the iPad 5th gen had been released a year ago. Would've been perfect for my mom.
