Excellent. Many thanks for the test shots. I expect that initially the D90 body with the kit lens will more than suit my needs. It is more than I would like to spend, but I think it will be the right decision down the line. I'd rather have too nice of a camera than regret the missing quality/features of the more expensive version.
I'll definitely keep in mind the macro lens suggestions. I seriously considered a ring flash today, but opted out for now.
