I disagree. I think the updates to iMovie and iPhoto are pretty solid. Enough to carry the Keynote on their own, no, especially with this season's rumor hype.

I agree that the show was a little weak ... buy all in all, I think the software side was solid.

Nice updates, but no new iDVD????? Give me some themes, please!!!

Interestingly, there was no mention of Snow Leopard. Also, I thought Phil said something in the beginning about it being all about the Mac, but there was only the 17" MBP discussed.

Well technically the software will only run on the Mac, so that might fit in the all about Mac . So there was no iPhone update etc.

The only thing that really went across all product lines iPhone, iPods, Apple TV and Mac's was the iTunes DRM Free annoucment.

iMovie and iPhoto contained "new to Apple" improvements, but not "new to the world" improvements. This is not the kind of update you invite the world to see. This is the kind of update you make new packaging for and change out the website descriptions.

Well, I don't quite agree with you on that ... as far as I know, there's no entry-level NLE that is doing the shake-reduction that iMovie'09 is doing. On the PC side, I see Picasa being iPhoto's competition and the lastest doesn't have face-recognition .. I think.

Regardless, I personally think the updates to iMovie and iPhoto were solid, but then again, I'm a Mac user so I really don't know what else is out there.

Has this been confirmed? I can't see that Apple wouldn't at least throw in some new themes.

At the very least, the "new" chapter feature to iMovie'09 does carry over to iDVD.

hardware wise yes, software was updated in 08.

If you listen to the rumors, an Apple TV overhaul may be coming later this year, but you'll be waiting till Q3 at least. If you buy an Apple TV now, you won't be disappointed.

I'm a gadget lover, and the Apple TV is definately my favorite toy (I watch a lot of movies, as does my daughter and the YouTube/Video Podcast gives a lot of free daily, on-demand entertainment).

I recommend the buy.

Thank you... that is pretty much what i needed to hear. i get a bit tired of sitting and waiting. if it were an upgrade that's one thing but i know i will love the current ATV and get plenty of use out of it.
