I want to buy an ipad pro 12.9 but I cannot find one anywhere. All the cell phone companies have sold out and even apple is on back order. I can order one but it will not get delivered until the middle of March.

I found out yesterday that there's a possibility that Apple will announce a new ipad sometime in March? I don't know what to do. I want one so bad but I would hate to order one then they announce a new one by the time I receive it. Will they possibly drop the price of the 12.9 pro if they release a new one?

This really depends a lot on where you live and who you ordered from.

If you ordered directly from Apple in the U.S., there is a 14-day customer satisfaction window to return anything you purchase, within reasonable limits of course.

Have you tried BestBuy?

Order from Target and you have 30 days to return. So if you get it mid-March, you would have until mid-April to return. Should be enough time to see the new ones.

Just checked their site, and they only have models locked to Sprint or Verizon. No AT&T locked models or unlocked models within 250 miles of my location.

There is no such thing as a locked iPad Pro. They come with a specific SIM card, but you can just get a SIM from your carrier. Just don't buy it on a contract. You have to pay full price.

Also there are some 12.9 pros on Swappa.com.
[doublepost=1487175400][/doublepost]It looks like bestbuy does something weird with iPads on contract. Strange. I may be wrong about what I wrote above.

I'd wait a couple of weeks. Either they will replenish inventory or they will announce a new one. They are not going to go months without selling any.

Best Buy online does have one but when I go to add a line for verizon, it tells me that I have to contact verizon to add a line.

How does that work? Best Buy says that I get verizon to add a line so I call verizon, get them to add an empty line? Then go back to best buy online and add the ipad? Also best buy does payments but are the payments paid through verizon? It looks like the payment was for the wireless carrier but I'm not sure.

Edited

I ended up ordering one through Best Buy so thanks for the suggestions!!! I had to call Verizon first to add the line for the iPad. I ordered the gold 128 gb iPad pro 12.9 for Verizon. I gave up my grandfathered udp plan for their new unlimited plan. Now me my husband and my mom have unlimited everything. I hope I don't regret it lol.

I would think first gen iPad Pro 12.9 price will drop once new one is released next month but I am afraid Apple might sell 32GB model only. I hope I am wrong.

I thought you don't have to activate the Sim card in the Ipad Pro LTE versions. I know best buy wants you to get a data plan, but I thought they told me at the Apple Store, you don't have to activate it if I went with one. I chose the Wifi, just because the guy at the apple store told me to just tether and save money.

You don't have to. When I got my iPad at BestBuy, they asked me if I wanted a carrier version and I said no. Obviously I paid the full price but I'm happy with that. I want to be able to use any carrier and right now, I have data plans active through Sprint and T-Mobile. Love those Apple sims.

If you buy a cellular model you get GPS in case you missed placed it or it stolen etc. it's worth the extra money

Can't tell you how many times I've read about people leaving their iPad in the pocket in the back of an airplane seat and remembering that they did this a day later.
Wow. People are dumb/irresponsible.

How would it having a cellular antenna actually help these folks? It doesn't help those with lost iPhones.

There is IMO a weaker case for a cellular 12.9" iPad Pro, simply due to its general non-portability compared to the other iPad sizes. As a laptop replacement, it's generally not expected to have cellular connectivity.

On the flip side, the iPad mini is much better with cellular connectivity. It's a true bring-everywhere device, a boon for commuters using public transportation and doubles as an excellent wifi hotspot device.

I actually use one as a GPS in my car, with offline maps from Google which makes it great when navigating through National Parks in America.
