I would think first gen iPad Pro 12.9 price will drop once new one is released next month but I am afraid Apple might sell 32GB model only. I hope I am wrong.
I got my iPad Pro 12.9 from Best Buy today. I'm kind of wishing I'd waited now. Compare to my iPad 4th gen, I don't see any difference in brightness or image quality. I'm really disappointed in that because I was so excited to use it for watching movies on a larger screen.

I think Best Buy gives me 15 days to decide. I hate to return it then no new iPads get released in march. Also I remember years ago Best Buy charges a restocking fee. I guess they will do it this time if I return.

Btw funny story I've always bought my devices from Verizon so when I received this iPad I expected it to connect to Verizon right away. Of course it doesn't. I contact Verizon and they have me trying several different things with no luck. I kept asking do I need another SIM card and they kept saying no. They transferred me to apple support who had me restore and update the iPad through iTunes. I have a slow internet connection and it said it would take about 2 hours to download the update so apple support said they'd call me back in 2 hours.

After about an hour the update is done and I setup iPad again and of course no Verizon lte signal. I then popped out the SIM card to make sure it's the correct one and I see it's an apple SIM card. I go looking on the internet to try to figure out what to do and see several articles stating that Verizon does not use apple SIM cards and that you have to get one from Verizon. I call Verizon back up and tell tech support this. She said she knew that and was surprised that the other Verizon rep didn't suggest that right away.

I go to my local Verizon store and they give me a SIM card and it works right away. Apple support calls me back about 3 hours later and I tell him I figured out the problem and he says he was going to suggest that. The thing is he was supposed to be high up on the tech support ladder. Anyway it's all working great and love this screen size. I just worry I won't be able to see the screen outdoors like they advertised saying it was brighter.

You should wait. Best Buy return period is 15 days, no restocking fee. A March event with new iPads is on its way.

The real display quality improvements are on the 9.7" iPad Pro. What you get with the 12.9" is mainly the higher resolution / larger display. In sunlight, the reflectance should be better than the iPad 4. See , but otherwise it's not really significantly different from past iPads.

If you're really interested in display comparisons, this may be relevant: http://www.displaymate.com/iPad_2015_ShootOut_1.htm

I have an iPad 4 and I have a iPad Pro 12.9 and there is a significant difference in the speed of the two devices hopefully within the next week and a half there will be a announcement for an Apple event at that point you can decide if you want to return the iPad Pro it is hard enough to get your hands on one right now don't let it go quite yet

If you're not satisfied, then return it, simples.

You'll probably be happier taking a small hit and getting 'the latest' than sticking with something you're already finding fault with.

Btw, do you think the screen on the next gen is going to improve vastly? if so, in what way?

iPhone 7 & 7+ have DCI-P3 displays. This needs to move to iPads. The 12.9" model doesn't have the Tommy TrueTone display, so that can be added as well (along with the improved ambient light sensors that enable this feature).

..and do you think incorporating these features would make viewing films significantly 'better'?

It makes me laugh sometimes because most films being viewed on iPad's are either highly compressed or streaming at fairly low bit rates...

I'm hoping for more brightness to view outside and better resolution. Of course since the screen is so large I probably can see that the videos are lower quality such as Netflix. I don't know though. Could be my internet too slow. It would be nice if they could make it water resistant like my iPhone 7 plus.

Isn't the resolution exact same ppi as the iPad 9.7"? If you have quality issues on video streaming, it is definitely your internet or streaming service.

The 12.9 iPad resolution looks great. I can't say I've tried outdoors so brightness may or may not be an issue for you
