I'd snap up a 1D IV, but I'd need to get rid of the Mark III first, and then find another few grand...
I asked my local Samy's here in L.A. They told me to check back next week. You'd think the city closer to Japan would have these cameras first.

I wonder if anyone here got their hands on one today? Man, I'm excited for the reviews and to hear what people say about the T2i. I was considering getting a 7D, but if the T2i is up to par, then I could spend the extra $800 on a 50 1.4 & get Canon's 70-200 2.8 IS instead of the F4.0 IS.
Here are a couple vids shot with the T2i... Im no videographer, but im thoroughly impressed! I want to shoot footi of my and my friends skating, cant wait!!!
I hope this isn't considered trolling or some other violation but you can always rent one to see if you like it before making the plunge.

Thanks. The quality of the video looks good. The first video is not so creative, but the second one is outstanding. It's funny how you seldom see any zoom shots in DSLR videos... no doubt due to the lack of motorized zoom lenses and autofocus.
Yeah, the second one is amazing. I hope there isnt too much of a learning curve to get results like that.
Played around with it at the local Samy's at Pasadena CA last friday. Pretty impressed by it. Tried it for stills with a cheap O kit lens and the image wasn't bad and at ISO 3200, the grain (there are some) are much better than past Rebels. And the video focusing is comparatively much faster than the T1i and not too bad. Live view was also usable. I liked it. For stills, the one surprising thing which even the 5D MkII would have issues with is the AWB. Typically for an indoor retail store like Samy's the shot would look a bit yellowish in the store with AWB. But when I test it with T2i, it was actually quite good and didn't have the typical yellowish indoor tint. The AWB was fairly accurate and had good whites in it. I was pretty surprise. Maybe having the same or similar 63 zone metering like the 7D does help! With the short time I played with it, the camera seems good.
After you are done playing with your new camera, let us know what you think! BTW, which one did you get, since the thread referenced 2 different bodies.
High ISO?
If anyone compares the high ISO performance of the T2i with that of the 7D with noise reduction off, I'd love to hear of your impressions. Wonder if it's usable at ISO 3200 and 6400...

I do believe you said that about the 7D.
That I did! I was saving up! But then this was announced and I said THE HELL WITH THE 7D!
Stablization and keeping a shot in focus with those crappy ass focus rings on the Canon lenses are the two biggest issues. Tripods, Steadicams, and Shoulder mounts are your best friends when doing SLR shooting. That video isn't too complex though so it shouldn't be hard to replicate that kind of production.

I'm a Dslr noob, so I took these pics point and shoot style--no tripod, by hand, and on whatever setting that the t2i thinks is cool. Kit lens. Subway shots are tricky. You gotta be all James Bond in low light and that does wonders to stabilizing a shot.
